Wii 4x more reliable than PS3, 9x more than Xbox

Sep. 3, 2009 (9:02 am) By: Matthew Humphries

SquareTrade point out that without the RROD issue the Xbox 360 fails just a little bit more than the PS3 so it is worse, but not by much. It also points out a number of customers go directly to Microsoft with their problems and don’t tell SquareTrade even if they have a warranty plan. That unknown could push the failure rate up further....

Some of the players think: big deal, I just love Xbox games although it's easy to 3 red, I brought console for fun, not for safe. What't  your opinion?

    Nice find there freebird.

Well I still have the OG PS2 and Xbox (moded)  and never had any issues with them yet. As for the 360 and PS3 somehow some of does not surprise me, most game stores or stores in general I walk in to the controllers are broke or the PS3 is frozen which is a big deterrent for me.

As for the Wii its nice and all but too childish for some of the game that are out there were as PS3 and the 360 gear more towards adults it seems to me.

Agreed, Xbox360's hardware was unreliable and unstable, compared to it's Asian counterparts. I did get the RROD on mine after a year of play (replaced). But, this was because of excessive game play through LIVE. I just burnt it the F up. And this is probably because the LIVE is such a good platform for multiplayer.

However, LIVE is overpriced for a One-year subscription (when you add-in all the DLC which one has to pay for too - should just be free), and the customer service/support SUCKS. So, I don't care how good a product is, if it is overpriced and not supported properly, I won't buy it.

And this is why I canceled my subscription, and am now in the process of selling my Xbox360...Because it is freaking worthless without LIVE.

But, I would think the same thing for PS3 - PC4Life

Xbox games really fascinating but RROD is really annoy and it keeps happening on Xenon,Zephyr, Falcon,Opus, hope things could be better on Jasper.

    And Yeah, LIVE sucks.

To me, LIVE was good, but the support and cost sucked to me.

I have had my Xbox for a year now and it has had no issues.  I don't really care that much about the Live stuff as I prefer to play alone or with someone that is over, I am wired for it since there are games that require a connection and for any updates.  I just got the new PS3 Slim 120gb last weekend and with the whole week of having it, it has been smooth too, also wired.  Since my entertainment center is wide open I don't see myself having any heating issues with the PS3, the Xbox has had no such issues.

I think Live is great. Hands down the best online gaming service out there and you can get a year of it for $40 anytime on Amazon. Cheaper if you look. I'd rather have Live than the PSN or Wii's online service, even if I have to pay for it. They just don't compare.

    I happily buy tech! Why wouldn't I?

Re: Wii 4x more reliable than PS3, 9x more than Xbox

360 has been good for over two years and a live subscriber. Whatever happened to having your friendsa come over and play split screen? Fewer and fewer games support this... As far as the cost I have to agree that $40 is not bad for a year of service, as for the DL content I hear that you don't have to buy it. PS3 works great also, best DVD playback that I have seen. Wii does not get used much, too "child friendly" except my kids like the 360 games more....

People forget sometimes that companies are really in business to make money and provide and income for their employees. Everything cannot be free and really people should not feel entitled to it. Without the costs it is hard for companies to put out quality products. I am in favor of more games, better games and in order to do that I want to make sure that the production companies are making the money they need to stay in business.

Just like the music business, this generation of performers is getting screwed because their fans don't believe they should have to pay for anything...

     Go figure...

Re: Wii 4x more reliable than PS3, 9x more than Xbox

The Wii may be 4x more reliable than the PS3 and 9x more reliable than an Xbox, but who needs reliability when its sitting in the entertainment center collecting dust. It's the least exciting console of all of them, once getting past the wow factor of it being the first console to use motion controls, its extremely lackluster. The games and the hardware both suck. I suppose we could debate how the games is an opinion thing, but the hardware shouldn't be debatable really. Both of the other consoles provide much more than just playing games, and the Wii really doesn't deliver anywhere else. You can't use it to play DVD's (or blu rays if compared to ps3), and streaming video through a program like orb is terrible, which orb supports ps3 and 360, and I've played media on my 360 through network and usb and it's atleast enjoyable, the wii cannot handle it.

All the extra items to buy are expensive. It might just be me, and someone might term this as lazy, but not all the time do I want to flail my arm around for some entertainment, sure maybe sometimes its fun, but that gets rather old. And I don't know if some games are made to support the motion controller and the classic controller, but even if they were, that adds to the extra items of stuff that you have to buy. I don't have enough fingers to count how many people I know who have a wii and don't even use it, or had a wii and sold it because they didnt use it/didnt like it. I also don't have enough fingers to count how many people I know who have a 360 and have to keep sending it in because of RRoD's, but I wasn't really debating that the 360 was reliable.

And lastly, the price, at $200, makes it more costly than its worth. When it first debuted at $250 it was a good value over the other consoles and the motion controls was something some people have never experienced before. Now, its ideas are old, the wow factor is gone, its value lowered, and all thats left is a white box that can't be expanded upon through software because the hardware is still bad. Thats why the 360 and the ps3 can come out with motion controllers, project natal, w/e else they come up with and just add it to their console, because they actually put good enough hardware in to handle it. While it may not be reliable hardware, I think I'd rather spend $200 or $300 for either type of 360 or ps3 and take my 75% chance or greater of it lasting and actually get some lasting fun out of it, vs 100% chance of not having any fun and wasting $200 on a wii that wont ever be taking its gameplay to a higher level.
