    EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

    Greetings All,

To ease the tension between EggXpert regulars and new EggXpert members who wish to post regarding EggSaver/DHL shipping, this sticky thread has been created. Please review this thread before posting on this subject.

Please do not create additional forum threads regarding this topic, as they will be locked and redirected to this thread.

    Late Shipments
Shipments that do not arrive within their scheduled time frame (4-7 business days) are late. This is a lapse in service, regardless of whether it is caused by Newegg or the shipping courier. For these issues, you can contact Customer Service, and they will do everything they can to make amends. Bear in mind that weekends are not business days, and are not included in the shipping time frame.

Here is a worst-case scenario of an on-time Egg Saver shipment time, which spans 2 weekends. Please note that this assumes a 24-hour ship-out time from Newegg (our standard is 24-48 hours for shipping, but something like 98% of orders ship within 24 hours).

     Thursday - Order Placed
Friday - Order Ships, Shipping Day 1
     Saturday - non-business day
     Sunday - non-business day
     Monday -Day 2
     Tuesday - Day 3
     Wednesday - Day 4
     Thursday - Day 5
     Friday - Day 6
     Saturday - non-business day
     Sunday - non-business day
Monday - Day 7, order delivered

    Newegg Shipping Standards
It's our experience, however, that most of the disappointment comes from customers who are accustomed to receiving a UPS 3-Day shipment from Newegg in 1 or 2 days. While we love to exceed service standards in this way, it has set a high standard for our transit times that Egg Saver shipping does not match up with.

Egg Saver is budget shipping, and is only used for small and lightweight items. Transit time is 7 business days, and it often does take that long before delivery. While we hear the points made by those who do not like this service, there is another group -- a less vocal one -- who uses this service for small products that they do not require urgent delivery for. These customers have told us that they enjoy the savings provided by Egg Saver shipping, and use it frequently for orders that do not require a timely delivery.

    Get rid of Egg Saver/DHL!
If we removed Egg Saver shipping entirely, we would be taking this service option away from customers who use it and accept the defined transit times. For more urgent orders, we recommend upgrading to a UPS or FedEx service, or combining more items together in the order (once an order surpasses a certain weight, the shipping method will automatically change to UPS).

That said, there are two ways to circumvent Egg Saver shipping, if you really, really despise it:

1.)  Pay for UPS 3-Day shipping

2.)  Buy a greater quantity of the item, or add another (heavier, larger) item to the order -- if all items have "free shipping", the method will change to UPS 3-Day automatically, and you will still get free shipping.

    Common Complaints
Quite a few of the following complaints have been made regarding Egg Saver shipping; please note that according to the shipping terms, these situations are not outside the service agreement, and will not be addressed by EggXpert staff or Mods/Ubers.

    • Egg Saver shipping has failed, because my product has not arrived yet, even though 7 business days have not yet elapsed.
    • Egg Saver shipping has failed, because my tracking number does not work.
    • According to the tracking number, my shipment was at a hub within X miles of my house, before DHL/USPS routed it to another city 100 miles away. This is inefficient (but 7 business days have not yet elapsed since my order shipped).

Here are legitimate, verifiable complaints that we welcome you to post regarding Egg Saver shipping. For the fastest possible resolution, contact Customer Service should you encounter one of the following situations:

    • It's been 8+ business days since my Egg Saver order shipped, and it hasn't arrived yet.
    • My Egg Saver shipment arrived damaged or broken.
    • My Egg Saver shipment was mis-delivered or lost in transit.

Hopefully this provides a better explanation of how our Egg Saver shipping option works, and gives some additional options if it's not the service for you.

Ordered a USB Wireless Adapter 9/15, came today, 9/22. 5 business days. Free shipping, better than the $7 for UPS ground.

I didn't bother to track it, I didn't care if it spent a few days sitting on some dudes desk in Nanticoke Pe, or EBF, Mass, it got here, and it's working, b/c it's what I'm sending out on, as I type.

Eggsaver did what is was supposee to do - get here free. NE rocks once again.

    Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

Ok ii understand that it might cost me a little more.  Ill gladly pay that, i live in maine, DHL reverts everything to USPS.  Which we all know Newegg doesn't ship to po boxes.  So even if i live in an apt but have a po box guess what USPS sends it back. DHL is a great company over seas, they are the USPS of europe.  They have failed in the US and do not even provide routes in Maine anymore, excluding heavily populated areas.  UPS delivers to me no issues, DHL wont even take the package farther than NJ.  This cause a 3 week delivery, along with 2 weeks return shipping.  It was so cool, i had 2 weeks including the 3 days during the week to process to get 2 microSD cards before a vacation.  They never came, it took over a month to resolve the issue.

DHL shouldnt even be a consideration, would rather be able to ship small packages via USPS.

IDK bro, I live in Maine too, Penobscot County area, not your urban mecca by any means, and I get my Eggsaver shipments usually 5 business days (always.) They may have just slipped up on your particular order, sorry to read, but it happens.

I mean, you in the County or something?! but it's pretty reliable here man.

    Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

I've just run into this issue, and I'm not too happy.

I placed my order on the 14th, my order shipped using dhl on the 15th, and on the 17th, dhl passed it on to usps.

It is now 9 business days after the dhl shipping date and 8 business days after the usps shipping date, and I still haven't received my product.  I contacted customer service twice, and in both instances, they were of no help.

The first time I contacted newegg customer service, they suggested that I confirmed my package with usps if it had already been delivered.  Then, come back and make a claim.  That was yesterday.  So today, I called usps.  usps told me that my package has not been delivered (it is still in transit), and due to the way it was sent, it would take up to 14 business days to get delivered from their beginning shipping date.  My product is already late, so I contact customer service again today.

Customer service told me that they can make a claim for me and refund me the money -- that's fine.  However, the process is going to take 7 - 10 days!  That's not fine.  Why would I need the refund if it the package is going to be delivered right as the refund goes through?  What's the point of the refund?  This customer service representative asked me to doubly confirm my package with usps.  Why?  I just called them.  They can't even track their own package because of the method dhl sent it.  And if I doubly check, would the next one ask me to triply check?  I've already lost faith in newegg through this whole ordeal.

Customer service explained to me that my money will be refunded if the package does not get delivered, or if the package arrives and I RMA it, which, in turn, would take more time.  For the former, I'm not sure what's their rule stick to based "not being delivered on".  Is it 5 days after the maximum ship date?  10 days?  I'm not sure.  For the latter, it's just more work and an inconvenience for both sides of the party.

So now, I'm stuck.  I need the refund to reorder my product and choose another shipping method.  However, I'm not going to receive the refund until after I receive the package.  My only option is to wait in anger.

For some of you that would've advised me to choose a faster shipping method if my product was that important, and I needed it that urgently, I'm sorry, but I did not know that my 3 - 7 day business day shipping is actually 14 business days shipping.  If I knew that, then yes, I would've paid the extra money for a guarantee on the quoted shipping dates.  However, I did not know that there is such a huge discrepancy between the shown dates and the actual dates it takes to ship.  Also, I am very busy, and I need things on time and my products on time.  At the time of purchase, I did not need the product immediately because the quoted dates within my time frame.  However, now that my product is late, and it could be another 5 business (7 days) for my product to get here, I now consider the situation as urgent.  I need my product now.

I would not have gone with this "saver" -- this form of shipping -- if the website told me then and there that it will go through not only DHL but also usps.  This would've saved me a giant headache in the end (please heed this as a suggestion).  I've used the "saver" shipping method many times before, and I've received my packages within 3 - 7 days.  Apparently, that's not the case anymore.

I've been a long time shopper at newegg.  I've bought products through a friends account before I had registered and bought my first product from newegg back on September of 2003.  I have not had any trouble with customer service since then.  I have not had many returns or RMA's.  I try hard to be a great customer for newegg because I believe that newegg deserves it through their service quality and support.  They are top-notch while still maintaining great prices.  This time, however, I noticed that the prices are still great, but the other two are definitely lacking.

     -- Angry long time customer

    Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

7-10 days is standard. They have to investigate this with USPS (about 5 days) and then the money gets refunded (about 3-5days), which your bank will take its sweet old time getting it back to your account. Newegg has nothing to do with what your bank does.  It's easier for the money to come out, than to come back in, that's just how the banking system works.  You can PM DoM_DoM and see what he can do for you.

    Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

    Thank you for the suggestion.

I understand it will take a while to hit my bank and is ready for use.  However, the expected time for the money to be ready for reuse and the expected maximum time for delivery is roughly the same day.  It's the same result either way.  Wait a business week for my package, or wait a business week to get my refund, get the package, RMA it, and reorder the product.  But why reorder the product if I had just received it?  I'll end up having to cancel the claim.

I'll go ahead and pm dom.  Thanks for the help.

    Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

I just wanted to give my input, I don't like this DHL shipping at all. I shipped this method by accident. I didn't realized there were changes to the shipping methods. I have ordered tons of stuff over the past 5 years and Newegg is widely known for prompt shipping. I realize that Newegg doesn't actually do shipping but none the less it has always got here fast and only one other problem I have had.

I fall in to the worst-case scenario it is Friday and I have not received my package. I live in Oklahoma, package originated in  Memphis, TN DHL shipped it to Grand Prairie, TX only to "tender" it to USPS. So now I am waiting on USPS with no tracking info. Of course all this is my fault for not paying attention to the shipping method but, I am disappointed in Newegg for even deciding to go this route. I come here for great service and have always gotten that I just fail to see the need for 4 to 7 day shipping, if it's not broke don't try to fix it.

I just fail to see the need for 4 to 7 day shipping, if it's not broke don't try to fix it.

It was broke, b/c of the spike in fuel prices, less and less is free shipped, and thus, people complained of that. NE came up with a free ship option. So one has to accept the 4-7 business days, or pay for the 2-3 and if you were willing to pay, so be it. Now understandably, you say you didn't realize, so it's a lesson learned. From here on out, pay for the 3 days, b/c in reality, Ne still does an admirable job free shipping a ton of different products, Eggsaver is for the lighter weight items, but now you also know that too.

I for one am not dissappointed in Newegg "going this route," I have to order all kinds of stuff, generally much more than your typical cat, and a fair share are light weight items under 4 oz that would jack me 5-8 $$$ prior, now I can get them free shipped by, now hold your breath, waiting 5 whole days!" lol. Almost every single Eggsaver I get, comes in 5 business days. Works for me, saves me money.

One must really undertsand what the parameters of eggsaver are , what its meant for , what it is replacing, and of all things, why it is here.

    Then evaluate dissappointment.

I have to say I've been a customer with Newegg since 2001, this is the first time I've ever been truly disappointed.  It was nice when they added UPS as a second option, but DHL is just not acceptable. I understand they are trying to save money, I'm fine with that but DHL?? I thought they were leaving the United States; they can't leave soon enough. Re: EggSaver/DHL Shipping Thread

Actually your link is outdated being posted in 2008.  DHL still has limited domestic delivery.

Limited domestic service is still available from DHL, provided that the packages are tendered to USPS for local delivery. NewEgg is one such company that uses this option as of August 10, 2009.

As stated before, if you don't like this service, then pay for UPS or FedEx delivery.

Have you seen the flat-rate system that USPS is using now? You end up paying a ridiculous amount no matter how much your package weighs..  It now costs like 10 bucks to send a feather into the next town over..  I've priced USPS shipping and the weight-based UPS rates beats it every time..  DHL beats UPS on the smaller packages..  So USPS is wayyyy far out there in ridiculous overpriced shipping for what you get, especially on smaller packages.. If you're going to pay so much extra for USPS, you might as well just go with FedEx and get it next day..

No dude, they are trying to save us money. Like any company, they'd just pass it on to the consumer. NE is trying to avoid that, because back a few years ago, a lot of people were griping about the high costs of having something light shipped.  We'd have to pay for UPS's light weight shipping which isn't much better than USPSs. I remember it like yesterday, folks spouting off, "It cost me $7 to have a fan shipped two states over, heck it cost more than the item itself!!!"

Remember those posts Eggxpert vets!!?? lol.

I have ordered 3 times by eggsaver and each time i was in a hurry and not paying attention so i got stuck with it. I think there would be a better way to do it like on the page where shipping options are put

You have picked Free eggsaver shipping if you need it faster please pick from the drop down menu for a discounted regular shipping rate

    DROP DOWN MENU   (HERE)

I think that would stop alot of accidents from occuring and possiably stop this thred from growing. Just my 2 cents.
