I find it unfair that every time there's a Free Giveaway or some sort of Sweepstakes that New York residents can never get in on the action.  Why is Newegg anti New York?  I've ordered countless amounts of stuff from Newegg yet I'm never eligible to win anything for free.  What gives Newegg?  Why is New York and Rhode Island always out the loop?  I'd love a chance to win a free PC or anything for that matter.  There should be a contest just for New York, Rhode Island, and Florida residents....

I asked the Legal Dept to explain in more detail why we had to leave NY, FL and RI out of this sweepstakes (cuz obviously, we love you guys and we want you to be eligible to win too!). It turns out it's because there are extra stringent sweepstakes laws in those 3 states that would require a sort of cash deposit or bond to be paid to each state ahead of time, which our Legal Department refuses to do for smaller sweepstakes like those run in the e-Blast.

Luckily, we don't run into this problem too often for NY and FL because it's only sweepstakes with total prize values over $5000 that these laws apply to, and usually, all our e-Blast sweepstakes are well under that (Rhode Island, on the other hand, has a really low ceiling of around $600, which is why we can't get them into the sweepstakes usually :( ). 

So that's the long answer as I understand it. We really apologize for not being able to include you guys in the BTS Sweepstakes this time because of all this redtape, but we'll work to ensure that all future e-Blast sweepstakes will be open to all NY and FL residents at the least.
