    Null Ratings

It would be great if we could have a choice for null ratings. So many times people post a review only to respond to someone else's review. In the process they either give it 1 star or 5 stars thus throwing off the true rating of the product. For those individuals it would be great to have a null system were you can choose 0 eggs that wouldn't effect the overall rating of the product.

As an example I wanted to comment on a 27 inch LCD monitor. I wanted to point out that the resolution of the monitor is the same as a 24 inch (1920 by 1080) thus giving no more desktop space than a 24. I didn't not want to post it because I didn't want to throw the rating of the product off. It I don't own the product and it was more of an observation.

     Thanks

     Warwagon.

    Re: Null Ratings

Thats true, but it does matter when you do a search for a product and group it by best reviews (a.k.a more eggs)

    Re: Null Ratings

I think more stars are equal to better products most time, so I usually pick them for that. Well, you can choose not to post a review if you don't think it is good.

We all love Eggs man, but IMO an important piece of info has its place in the revs. I am serious, I have nixed buying stuff by finding out crucial info on things.

It's admirable you take the process seriously, as we all should, but lets face it, the Knucklehead factor alone skews it right out of the shoot, so, people need to evaluate with care anyways.

    Re: Null Ratings

The product ratings is NOT a reliable way to make a judgement about a product. Newegg openly admits that the rating system is a MARKETING tool.

The ratings that people submit are reviewed by NE before they are posted. Many negative rating will never be seen by anybody except the NE staff. They can manipulate these ratings any way they choose.

The rating system is not an objective overview of user experiences, they are only what NE wants you to see. This has been a grip of mine for a long time. If NE wants to use them as a marketing tool, then they should call them "endorsements" and not "ratings". Using the word "ratings" is very misleading.
