I have all ways had fast shipments from Newegg.  I place an order 5 days ago and it has been shipped DHL the worst company in the shipping industry.  I only live 30 miles from where the package was shipped form in Edison, NJ. I could walk to Edison in 4 hour,  Regular US mail is overnight to Edison for me we are both in the 088 zip area.  According to the tracking it has been sitting in DHL warehouse for 3 days.  If DHL is now the shipping company for newegg. I will not be making any new purchases from Newegg.   Newegg should have strapped the packages to the back of a turtle it would be faster than shipping DHL.

They've had DHL or Eggsaver for a while now.  They haven't taken away UPS or FedEx.

Yup, they have had DHL for a while and it usually takes 5-7 business days for them to deliver an order. Well, if you would like to pay a bit more to get your packages delivered faster, you could simply change the shipping method to UPS or FedEx during checkout. For any more questions, you may contact Newegg c/s for help.

then don't choose dhl or eggsaver as shipper.........there is still ups & fedex

Every other time I picked free shipping went UPS.  Why would i think it would be any different this time.  No where on my order does it say the shipper is DHL.  Accouding to the tracking it has been sitting in DHL warehouse for 3 days.  Why would they not just ship direct though the US post office if they are going to go that route.

when you were checking out, the shipping had a drop down menu, where you sleected the free shipping, which was Eggsaver. Your item must be under 14 oz, b/c thats what the service is for.

Please do not try and claim NE back doored you on DHL, we've been over this one for almost 2 years now. It's listed as clear as day on the shipping menu, you just didnt bother to look. If you didnt realize to look, that's one thing, but most of us who order tons of stufff know, the Eggsaver is usuallly the free ship option for light weighing items. All one has to do is decide. If you didnt want it, you could have switched the method to UPS and paid for shipping.

The thing is, it may be 30 mins away, it could be in the house next door, it could be shipping from the mail box next to yours, but the ship time on Eggsaver is 4-7 business days, that means up to 10 actual days depending on when your ordered and if there's a weekend involved. One shouldn't really start griping until the 11th day.

And yes, DHL is not the best, but to be honest, I've used Eggsaver many many a time and it usually shows in 4-6 days for me, and I am in the boonies.

It is what it is man. Have patience.

I had a co-worker recommend NewEgg, touting their fast, free shipping.  But, like you've noticed this is a thing of the past.

I recently ordered two jump drives online that were advertised with free shipping.  Here's the shipping history to show just how ludicrous their shipping process is.  They use DHL to pickup their packages, deliver them to the to the USPS office by dart board selection where it goes into the USPS black hole process for shipping packages.  If you didn't know it, the USPS idea of shipment tracking is after the fact, not enroute.  Best of all their last entry showing delivery is WRONG, actually delivered 8/14/09.

By contrast, I've ordered many items from Staples.Com online as late as 4:30PM on a Wednesday and received it the next day by 1:30PM with FREE SHIPPING!

I also just ordered two toilets from a plumbing supply that's located in Smyrna,GA by phone Thursday evening about 7PM.  Even though this was a 275lb order it was sold with free shipping.  Order confirmation via email was received before I got off the phone.  Shipping confirmation was received yesterday at 9:05AM and is scheduled for delivery to my home in southern New Jersey Tuesday morning.  So far I've received 3 emails with shipping status updates, each time the item is handed or arrives at an interim destination, all without me ever having to ask for it.

The point is, NewEgg doesn't have a clue how to run an efficient shipping process. 

 

 

 

Well, Staples ON service is for $100 or more.

So you're comparing Freight shipping of toilets and Staples Rush shipping for $100+ orders to Ne's Free Shipping for light weight items?

You may not have liked the number of days it took, but it appears it was still within the 4-7 business day timeframe, so it wasn't even late.

NE utilizing this type of service so they can at least offer free shipping on these light weight items. Or else you'd have to decide to pay a price to get faster shipping, and that faster shipping is generally allot. If you wan tit faster, pay the money though, or take the terms and conditions on the free shipping.

Comparing rush service for toilets and another companies rush service for benchmark spending is off base.

If NE didnt have this fre shipping option, you may well have been on here griping about haivng to pay 7-8$ for shipping to little light wieght flash drives, which is exactly what we were seeing before NE came out with the Eggsaver option.

Like I said, NE can't win onthis one, but it's only becauseof narrow logic.

Probably more annoying and disappointing than subpar shipping/ order delivery experience with NewEgg are people like you who pollute this forum with insulting comments for evey paying customer with a complaint, concern or suggestion.  Rather than admit the problem and take corrective action you guys spend all your time online insulting customers.

Staples does not limit their free shipping to items over $100.  I've paid for less than my NewEgg order stated above for other items from Staples and received the kind of service I've referenced. 

Yes, it's a valid comparison to show the shipping experience of much heavier items that have to be palletized, sent via freight shipping to items that in total weight .0114 lbs.  And NO, I didn't request rush service for the toilets.  This is their standard level service, even if I just ordered a 2lb toilet seat worth $20.

Wouldn't it be far simpler and quicker to have the USPS just pickup the order directly from NewEggs facility and go directly to customers than the bizarre, jungle-gym process of using DHL to pickup, reroute to a distant Post Office?

No worries though.  I for one won't waste my time or money on NewEgg in the future and will make sure my co-worker who recommended this knows how NewEgg has changed from his prior experience.

Agreed, you can not ask too much with free shipping cost. All DHL and USPS do for that routing schedule is for saving the cost.

I've been encountering this quite a bit lately - so let me weigh in of the fact that, as a moderator, I saw no insults and rules violations from Penewab.

That being said, I saw firemark be quite tactless in his replies.

Let me offer 2 things.

1) Out of my own pocket, let me offer Firemark a refund for his shipping fee. (gives firemark nothing) You get what you pay for, and free shipping on small items sucks.

2) I personally think Newegg would be better off without a customer of firemark's caliber, and specifically think this forum could do without his presence. If he wants to continue to post, I'm not stopping him - but he's gotta get some better logic behind hi point, or at least learn be more tactful hen communicating his point.

 

We've drilled the arguement down to his not liking the new "Free Shipping" taking too long. That's fine, if you need the part, PAY for shipping.

Nobody is forcing folks to pick DHL/USPS. It's the default for free shipping, and it takes a while. As a customer, we all have other choices.

I work for UPS.. but for DHL it has been noted they will hold packages for a few days until they have enough mail to in their case hand it off to the post office.

 

Another reason I never ship with FedEX as well since they will hold all the time so you won't get overnight type service within the same ship zone.

You should spend some time reading the forum for complaints against UPS..  What's the minimum shipment fee for a package on USPS and UPS? $5? $6?  Imagine ordering a $1 item and get wacked by UPS's $6 shipping fee (after tax)..  Also, didn't USPS move entirely over to overpriced fixed-rate boxes? 

 

The only reasonably priced way to ship small items is DHL, everything else is a rip-off...

Edit: I just ran the numbers on UPS's website.. In order to send a 0.1 pound package from one zip code to the same zip code, it costs $6.90 for UPS ground..  Run the numbers yourself.

 I mean, I don't understand what you're complaining about...  So you wanted free UPS shipping instead of free DHL shipping.. Well, it says it in your cart what kind of free shipping it is.  So you must be complaining about the fact that it doesn't say it in big bold letters that it is going to be shipped via DHL..  

But really, I don't have a problem if NewEgg put it in big bold letters on the cart that it's going to be shipped via DHL just for people who thinks that all free shipping is UPS free shipping. It's a valid recommendation / suggestion, IMO...

I hear about overpriced shipping prices all the time :) fuel does cost money...It's bad enough with the slow ecomany that some drivers drive all the way to work only to find out they wont be needed today because they took 10+ routes out (trucks)

 

Also USPS contracts out to FedEx, UPS and DHL so I wonder if those fixed rate boxes have anything to do with it.. just because they are the USPS does not mean they can offload them for free.

I have just realized this as well.  all my previous experience is with UPS when ordering from newegg and it has been very good in almost every case.  it's my fault for not paying attention to the eggsaver details. Caveat Emptor as they say.  

kind of a bummer as I would have paid for shipping via ups and probably had my package by now.  it's somewhere between DHL's "tendered to usps" and USPS's "electronic shipping info delivered" and my door......good grief!

 Just say No to Eggsaver!  at least if you want your package in less than a weeks time.

 If you ever offer UPS free shipping again I will be most pleased to take you up on it.

 Lesson learned.

I don't mind eggsaver at all... Took a week and a half to get a game..  So what? It's not like I think about it every second of everyday worrying about where my package is..  I order it, it shows up.. That's all that matters to me..

 

 

Ya know, I just want to express that whatever I think of the logic of the complaints, folks who complain in a constructive manner like gsan always have my sympathy and support, while trolls like the (now deleted) firemark can just go suck it.

Gsan: I agree, haveing the free shipping take logner than it used to is a real disappointment. I always make sure I get UPS 3-5 day ground now.

I am glad I buy my stuff in bulk.  Meaning that I never buy one tiny item, if I have to order RAM or something small, I also may order something like a PSU (nice to have spares) and as long as I pick items with free shipping marked, usually they always get upgraded to free UPS rather than DHL.  That is my solution, but keep in mind, I may be ordering things for 3 or 4 customers at once, or a whole system. 

I just have to work the items, try to find as many as I can with free shipping so that the shipping doesn't pound me in the behind as bad.  If I built a system and pay shipping for each part in that system it could be as much as 50 bucks for 3 day UPS.  But if I shop a bit, and pick an item here and there that cost only a couple bucks more with free shipping, I wind up actually saving money on the order.  And that means money saved for my customer, and myself.  And I STILL get it UPS in 3 days.  Correction, 3 BUSINESS days (72 hours from pickup to dropoff, excluding weekends and holidays) Same goes for the other shippers with the exception of USPS shipping on Sat.  People that try to count 3 days and are mad cause they got it in like 5 days due to weekends are also in need of a head check.

Problem is simple really.  Your ordering your small items and peod because the times differ from what you EXPECTED cause you didn't READ or DOUBLE CHECK yourself.  That is your fault, not the shipper, not the egg.  Period.  I read all the pages each time I place an order, even though I think I know what they will say.  I have caught mistakes that either I made or the site did (such as items I deleted from the cart suddenly re appearing in the final order page) and would go back and fix them so I didn't have a problem.  NewEgg DOES list everything, you just have to not be lazy and read the pages.  And the shipping is quite obvious, just need to read it.

Sorry if its condescending but its also ridiculous.  And the truth hurts, I know.

I like DHL because they give it to USPS which delivers on SATURDAYS, Fedex nor UPS deliver on Saturdays. I would almost prefer some of my orders to go DHL if it falls on a Saturday arrival day.
