    Monitor Graininess a Defect?

I just received my  ASUS 19" VW192T+. This is my first LCD monitor other than my laptop's, which has crystal clear display. However, this new monitor has a noticeable grainy/sandy texture to it. Text is sharp and viewing is fine, but I get the feeling that this might be some kind of defect, and if not its still really annoying. Does anyone have any experience with this? Would updating my video driver do anything? Thanks.

did you hook it up using a DVI cable or VGA? DVI looks much better.

It seems like its a part of the physical screen. But I will try DVI with my desktop.
