help me choose a new monitor

ok so i have a dell studio 1555 with the 15" 1600 x 900 screen, and i want an external monitor.

should i get a monitor with the same resolution regardless of screen size, or do i want a screen with the nearest amount of pixels per square inch?

    example:

(1600 times 900) divided by 15 equals 96000 pixels per square inch.

i have two monitors of eqaul size and very different resolutions, and a small object on one screen is a large object on the other.

i'd like all object to be the same size on both screens, but the screes don't have to be the same size, and i don't want to change my laptop's resolution.

Well no matter what you will have to mess with the resolution between the two to try and equal each other. If you have the ATI IGP on board then you will have to use that to adjust the REZ to fit both the 15" LCD on board and the other monitor. If not one will look really funky.

Max REZ on a 15" LCD will be 1024X768 and the closest you might get is a 17" at 1440 x 900 REZ.
