Zero Touch Overclock
Vigor's Barebones Systems for Gamers
The new ZTO (Zero Touch Overclock) series of barebones kits from Vigor are aimed squarely at gamers who have PC-building experience, but may shy away from optimizing their hardware via overclocking.
Vigor has two kits available that include a motherboard, CPU, memory and a massive Gaming Monsoon III cooler. The pre-overclocked hardware offers performance that rivals much more expensive setups, but requires no additional tweaking out of the box.
Benchmarks
Both kits are built on Intel's Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor, which is overclocked from the stock speed of 2.83GHz to a healthy 3.4GHz. The ZTO n78 kit uses a Zotac motherboard featuring an NVIDIA nForce 780i Northbridge, and the ZTO i45 kit features an ASUS motherboard and P45 Northbridge. Each barebones comes with 2GB (2x1GB) of Kingston DDR2 dual-channel memory clocked to 1066MHz.
The ZTO barebones kits offer a great price/performance medium, especially if you'll be porting over some hardware from an old system. You'll need a chassis (case & 550w minimum power supply), video card, hard drive and optical drive to complete your build -- and of course your necessary keyboard/mouse and monitor peripherals.
