    I'm making a gaming build in the $1000-$1150 range. How do there parts look,
    anything better I should get get in this price range?

    If you don't plan on putting in another video card within a few months, it's generally not worth it to SLI.  The Gigabyte EP45-UD3R is fast, inexpensive, and an all-around great part you could consider for that role.

    Also, check out a Corsair 650TX.  It'll power one video card very nicely, and Corsair is one of the top PSU makers.

    Looks like a good build.  What do you plan to OC the Q6600 to?

    no overlocking, just trying to play good games and type up some school reports

    No need for a third-party cooler then.  Use the money to move up the quad-core food chain.

    perhaps, however I'm hesitant to skimp on the CPU cooler or PSU. I like to ensure stability, and have a chance of reusing the PSU

    You get good stability wih the default cooler.  It works, just terrible to use with overclocking.
