Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

I have search all over looking for something to help me with my BIOS setting on this mobo for crossfire.  I can't find anything, and the Asus website is a pain.  Does anyone run the P5K with a crossfire setup successfully and if so, what are your setting in the BIOS.  I can't seem to get crossfire to work with dual Asus 2600 XT cards and have a E8400 cpu.  Thanks for all help.

    I am not sure,

    AnandTech:

ASUS will release their official performance enhanced CrossFire capable BIOS early next week. The BIOS will be version 0709 and will include their new C.G.I. technology. ASUS C.G.I. stands for ASUS Cross Graphics Impeller and is a feature that if enabled will automatically optimize system performance if a CrossFire configuration is detected. The optimizations occur within the Direct Media Interface between the P965 MCH and ICH8R that is utilized to enable CrossFire operation. The 975X chipset utilizes Peer-to-Peer write capability within the MCH to enable 2x8 PCI Express lane capabilities for CrossFire. This feature is not available in the P965 so ATI enables CrossFire support utilizing the Direct Media Interface (DMI) to link the x16 GPU slot (16 PCI Express Lanes) residing on the MCH and the x4 GPU slot (4 PCI Express Lanes) residing on the ICH.

It is P965 motherboard, I am not sure if it is the same as P35 motherboard.

you might also need upgrade BIOS and downlaod the lastest drivers.

Re: Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

There is no BIOS Setting to enable Crossfire.

If you have 2 crossfire capable cards installed, and the Crossfire Connector installed on the cards, and are running CCC in advanced mode, you should get the checkbox to Enable Crossfire.

Though on a Asus P5K (P35) chipset, that's pretty worthless, as second PCIE slot is x4 speed, thus slowing down both cards to x4/x4

So if both cards are slowed down, what is the point of the second PCIE slot?  Is the P5K Pro a bad buy?

ok, i clicked on the linke for ATI that states there should be 4 devices shown.  However, I only have two showing and it states: "ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT" for both display adapters.  Got any ideas how to make it show 4 devices like the link suggests?

Why would you see 4 devices when you only have two devices installed.

Yes the P5K pro is a low budget MB in my opinion. and is barely worthy to carry the name "Crossfire"

Click on Intelguy's link to see what I mean about the 4 items under display adapters.  It appears to show 2 primary, and 2 secondary cards. Does that mean his link shows a 4 card setup?  And about the mobo, what would be a better board that could run crossfire/SLI setup and stay in the $100 range?  Oh, and should it have 2.0?

Oh I see, though you were talking about in device manager. Those 4 things are the individual ports that display monitors can be plugged into, do your video cards both have 2 outputs?

I'd go into the device manager and make sure both video cards show up, or one of them might not be working / installed correctly.

yes, my cards each have 2 ports on the backside for a total of 4.  Both cards do show up.  Also, one of my PCIE slots is x16 and the other is x4.  Cheapasiangamerguy said that both cards will be slowed down to x4 speed when crossfire is enabled.  However, I have my monitor plugged into the card that is attached to the PCIE x16 slot.  If I try to attach my monitor to the other card on the x4 slot, no image is sent to the monitor.  Is this suppose to be like this or does it help confirm something is wrong here.

Na, that just means that the x16 slot is set as the primary display adapter so thats were it will have to be plugged into for the BIOS screen to show up on it, and any additional monitors will be blank until they are configured to work in the control software.

Re: Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

Well, I purchased the full version of 3DMark06 finally.  I then proceeded to remove one of the 2600 xt cards from the mobo and re-run the bench.  I have a score of 4795.  I think the score for both cards with crossfire enabled was 4800-ish.  I am going to upgrade my power supply first because I know I need to do that.  If there is no fix after that point, I am contacting ASUS and RMA this p5k pro P.O.S.  Thanks for all your help so far.  I'll let you know after I install the new PSU and run the bench.

Re: Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

ok, I upgraded the power supply with a Thermaltake 750 watt.  I am getting a total score in 3dmark06 of 5638.  I have also downloaded GPU-Z and it shows crossfire disabled, but crossfire is available.  The box is checked in CCC for enable crossfire.  Are there any settings in Windows XP or the Bios to allow this thing to run in crossfire mode.  I just feel there is something else here I am overlooking.  If not, I will contact ASUS for a mobo RMA.

Re: Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

Maybe it is time to buy a brand new P45 motherboard which supports Crossfire @X16 X8

It will be okay. probably that motherboard does not have the feature.

Re: Asus P5K Pro BIOS settings for Crossfire, HELP!

Hi - I think i have bad news for Asus P5K Pro motherboard owners. - It will not work.

I tried number of time with Asus P5k P5k motherboard (with latest bios in it) and 2 x Club3D radeon 4550 cards (with latest drivers).

Motherboard support claims that  Club3D radeon 4550 card/s are faulty.

But both works fine, in 1 x combination and 2 x combination but i cant activate in CCC Crossfire option, i cant see it.

    I tried, with

    1 card on PCI-E 16x slot = works fine

    1 card on PCI-E 4x slot = works fine

2 cards on PCI-E 16x and 4x slot = works normally, but not crossfire available

    Club3D cards are crossfire cards

Asus P5k Pro is "crossfire" compatible only on manual and webpage, not realworld.
