New machine, no video, no power from USB

So I picked up a machine from eBay. I was going to build one, but a seller on eBay offered a machine he built from compenents from Newegg, even linked to all of the components. Anyways, I got the machine, and I can not get any video off of it, nor power coming from the USB ports. I've tried removing the video card, and trying the motherboard video, with no luck. I checked all of the connections going to the mobo, everything looks just fine. Everything is running just fine, all the fans are spinning, and even my PCI wireless card is flashing an LED, telling me power is going through the mobo.

I'm stumped, and so is the seller. We've been talking about it back and forth via emails.

It could be something tiny, but let I'm in dire need of advice at this point!

(My only really 'out of place' concern is there are some screws missing holding the mobo down to the case, and they have open solder joints around the screw opening, as if it wants to use the screw as ground. Is this a possible reason? Also, a cable that runs to the LCD display panel on the front of the case is also loose from where is was supposed to go, however the LCD panel is working just fine.)

     Thanks!

Try removing the motherboard and everything from the case and powering it up, in case its somehow being grounded out in your case.

I agree with this. Look for stand offs that don't match the holes on the board.

The builder, may have forgotten to check the standoffs locations when installing the board. *Grounding could be a problem, although not likely.

Re: New machine, no video, no power from USB

I'm going to give that a try later on tonight. The machine was fire up and running earlier, and its possible that the stand offs got knocked or bumped around. I did notice one immediate stand off that is laying under the mobo, but no under a hole in the motherboard, rather next to a small capacitor which it looked dangerously close to shorting out.

Anyways, I'll take a look, but in the mean time, any other advice?

Got off the line with Gigabyte tech support. The Phenom 9850 is not supported by the motherboard...the seller has some explaining to do.
