    Asus notebook warranty

Hi. I'm interested in buying an asus notebook on newegg.com, but i needed a fast answer, which i didnt get yet, thats why I'm writing here.

for this asus notebook, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220343 there is a 2 years warranty.

    I got 3 questions.

First, I would like to know if, in the case of some broken part, or whatnot, would I have to do business with newegg or asus to get it repaired, exchanged, etc?

Second, is the asus warranty onthat product an international/global warranty?

Third, can only the person who purchased the laptop get it repaired, etc? Because, the notebook will be bought by someone else than me, because I just dont have the credit limit required for it on my credit card. And billing info gotta match shipping info, right? So cant I do anything about this and get the laptop to my name, or will i always have to do business with the person who bought it to me if its damaged?? Or, is my receipt just needed, normally, for repairs, etc?

I saw that on agearnotebooks.com, for the same model, they give a 2 years global warranty, so I guessed it must be the same warranty coming from the product. But i wanna be sure, because i wanna do business with newegg, because of its reputation, and because the price is a little lower.

    Thanks

    Re: Asus notebook warranty

    Answers for you:

First: NewEgg would be the one to go to if the unit arrived damaged, or non-functional in some way. In some cases you may need to talk to Asus first to verify if something was wrong, but DOA or similar issues are handled by NewEgg directly. Outside of the first 30 days I believe, anything not considered a DOA or shipment damage, etc, would be handled directly by Asus.

Second: As far as I am aware, the warranty covers the model sold in or for that country. Some models are considered a "global" product. Some may only be supported in the country or region they are sold in. Check with Asus to be sure.

Third: I sell laptops to customers, and as long as I provide them an invoice for their purchase it is for them, and can be registered as "theirs" by simply filling out the registration.  Once that is done, all warranty service calls are handled directly by Asus.

Finally, maybe some further information would be helpful:

1: Their warranty is a standard ship in/ship out warranty.  You pay in, they pay out.

2: They do offer a one time accidental damage warranty on nearly all of their laptops now.  This covers the unit for a one time repair/replacement for ANY damage or problem caused by things like dropping, spills, etc...  But it is only good for one use, and for only the first year of ownership.

3:  Their techs are really great people, I have talked to them a few times just to ask questions about the laptop warranty. They speak English and are not in India.   LOL

I think they may have some of the better service than most, with the exception of say Dell with on site service options.  Asus may offer it though for an additional cost, I never asked.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Asus notebook warranty

I dont live with the person who will buy it for me, so i wont be there to get the package, does it matter for the invoice?  You have to sign a copy of the invoice? Also, by subscription, do you mean online registration of the product? Could i just ask my relative to write my name when signing the invoice or something?

Sorry, but it'll be my first online purchase, and im unfamiliar with invoices. Could you explain? Did you mean that as long as I have the invoice, I am the purchaser and i can use the warranty? Because, after all, it wont be my name on the invoice.....

    Re: Asus notebook warranty

Well whomever makes the purchase, will be the one that gets the invoice via e-mail.  There will be a packing invoice included but it will NOT be the official invoice (no price on it). You can print it from your e-mail or right after you make the purchase. You can personally make a separate invoice for the customer if you are doing this as a person providing a service/business/etc.  Example:

I make my own invoices here for my customers as I charge them a bit more to help cover shipping, and research, setup, etc.  So they pay my invoice, and I pay the Egg.  My invoice is their proof of purchase.  Also keep in mind dates.  Officially the date the item is ordered from NewEgg is the start of their warranty.  However if your customer registers the product and uses the date they bought it from you, that would be the official start of the warranty.  In either case, it is important to keep an invoice for your records.  NewEgg also keeps all your order history online for you to review and print as needed.

Here is another thing.  Make sure that the shipping address and the address of the purchasing MATCH, especially for the first purchase.  This prevents delays that can occur during address verification.  NewEgg will not validate an order if the address of say your CC and the ship-to do not match.  They view that as a possible fraud.

    Example:

Your credit card belongs to the person purchasing the item and has their address, and the ship-to would be your address. That won't work.  They have to be the same.

Outside of that, you shouldn't have any problems.  IF you have further questions, just give NewEgg a call directly they will be happy to help, and its faster!

    Big Smile
