Have a heart, help a newbie with ram problems.

    Long Version:

    Greetings everyone

My problem is that I have quite a really old computer and I do not have enough money to buy a new one.

The only thing I could do, is to add a bit more ram.

I have 256MB of ram in my computer right now and Im looking to add 256 more.

-My motherboard has 4 DDR SDRAM Slot.

-My current 256MB of ram is DDR SDRAM and the other 256MB I want to add is a Non-DDR SDRAM(It looks like this)

Would it still be possible to put it in my computer so I can get 512mg?

    Short Version:

I have 256MB DDR SDRAM and I want to add 256MB of Non-DDR SDRAM(It looks like this)

Is it possible?(My motherboard has 4 DDR Slots)

    Thanks

No, you must have DDR DIMM that has a voltage that is accepted by your motherboard

ALFX, you cannot put that chip into your computer, you need one like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141425

If you want the best performance as cheap as possible, buy a "kit" of two sticks of ddr ram in either "PC 2700" or "PC3200". Depending on your budjet you can do either 2X256mb, or (I recomend, but what do I know" 2X512md. The latter give you a full gig aof memory and should help yoou out a bit. I recently updated my "Old Computer" with 2 gigs (2X1gig) set from Newegg for about $60 w/shipping. It doesn't make the computer a game machine or anything, but it sure is a lot faster. (two gigs is over kill for an older rig)
