Hey all:
After going back and forth on components, I ordered my build a week ago, got the parts on Friday, put it together yesterday, and was going to install the OS today. Check all connections, and flip the PSU switch. LEDs light up (so far, so good). Hit the power button. Not a thing. Try the power switch on the mobo. Nada. LCD poster says CPU INIT (which, as it turns out, only means that a CPU was detected) Tried the usual troubleshooting things (recheck connections, reseat boards, etc). Nothing. So, went to the PC Power and Cooling site, and got directions on how to do the paperclip trick (basically, disconnect from almost everything, then short across two wires with a paper clip to see if the PSU starts). Nothing doing. So, a DOA PSU.
I was very concerned about getting this PSU, it a) being non modular and b) getting some very uneven reviews recently. Turns out I should have been concerned. So, this is being RMAed. Do I take the 15% hit and get a refund for a different brand, or try again with these guys?
