    Time for new monitor?

So right now I'm using a dell 19" LCD Cnet link  .  It's been treating me very nicely so far but I was wondering if it's time to move to something better for gaming.  How much of a difference would it make if I got something that could do higher resolutions (this does 1280 x 1024) and possibly widescreen?  Also what are some suggestions if you think it's time to upgrade.   Thanks

Well bigger is always better. (till it gets so big that you have to go into the other room to see the other half), and a newer model might have a better picture, as well as a faster response time.

But the choice to spend the money, and wether or not it is worth it is up to you.

Remember if you go to a higher resolution, you might need a better video card to run it. What video card do you have?

    Re: Time for new monitor?

With LCDs, size is tied in almost directly with max resolution in most cases and another thing with LCDs, you really need to run them at max res or exactly half of it, or the picture can get fuzzy.  So, if you get a larger LCD, make sure you have a card that will support it decently.  Lower resolutions are doable in games but it will make your desktop look horrible.  For games though, response time is a more important feature than size, and to get a 22" with a good gaming response time (2-5ms) will run in the $300-400 range most likely.

I'm using an 8800gt but i'm also thinking about upgrading that too (possibly to an SLi configuration).

Right now I'm playing alot of TF2 and world in conflict (and occasional COD4)

I'm thinking about getting either another 8800gt or maybe stepping up to a GTX 260

    Re: Time for new monitor?

If you already have an SLI main board another 8800GT is the way to go, cheeper and simular performance, actually the 8800GT's might beat the 260 a bit.

On mine I get avg of 32 FPS in crysis on high no aa on a 1080P monitor (24"), 65 in COD4 all maxed out. And they give me a 15,903 in 3dmark06 with my Q9450 processor (overclocked, cards too). (i get all those FPS at 600MHz (stock) though).   EDIT...(Crysis was 43.54FPS AVG OC'd)
