    Monitor brightness

Hey guys, I was wonder, by putting your monitor brightness on 100% can you damage your monitor or reduce it's life expectancy noticeably?

I'm trying to decide what is the best setting for my brightness. 100% looks really nice, but I'm afraid I'm going to dull my pixels out. I currently have it set on 65%. Is that sufficient?

    Oh, btw, it's a Dell 20" Ultrasharp.

    Re: Monitor brightness

I've never heard of such a thing, my acer has been on 100% brightness for 6 months and no issues so far. Id say your dell should be fine at 100%

    Re: Monitor brightness

It is possible the life of the pixels may be a little longer at a dimmer setting, but it would be insignificant.  It would also be slightly more likely to burn-in at the higher setting but with modern LCDs that is also insignificant (you'd have to leave it on your desktop with no screensaver for days).  Honestly though, just for sheer looks alone, I find most monitors wash out their blacks a little at max, even the really good ones, and I much prefer around 75% in a room that isn't too brightly lit
