    Dedicated Host Options

So, I am looking at hosting a game server, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that gives me access to a server so I can have full control of the files. I would host it on my own machine but I expect about 40-50 people and I am on a 5 meg DSL.. so i cant do that so well.

The main reason I am looking for one is because its a game that I can't seem to rent a server for, so I am gonna need a payed for server that has full access and lets me install onto it, and not even really "Install" onto it, I really just need to copy over the server files for it. And I am hoping for something that doesn't rape me with money bandwidth charges (since I will use a little bit)

    Re: Dedicated Host Options

Well you might want to see if you have any 'business class' internet options available for where you're at, because you will get raped with dedicated hosting plans. The main thing to keep in mind is upload speed. ISPs are big on advertising download speeds, but keep quiet on uploads. A business level plan would give you pretty much equal download and upload speeds.

EDIT: With a very fast internet plan, you could make some money on the side from your neighbors by allowing them to tap into your line (wireless access point).

    Re: Dedicated Host Options

Could i suggest a really good shared hosting provider? I have ran a ventrilo server, teamspeak server, 36 slot counterstrike server, image hosting site, and 5 domains all at the same time off of it, worked fine.

Go check out www.bluehost.com they even give you ssh access so you can install and run anything you want, given you know how.
