FINAL BUILD - - - What do you think?

    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=8350472&WishListTitle=Mid

What do you think about this build? I know there are somewhat cheaper monitors but I have only heard good stuff about the Samsung and I also checked it out at best buy and the next best monitor would have cost like $960 so unless there someone has a good reason I'm gonna go with it.

I was really thinking about the 2.53Ghz Intel Duo Processor, but the 3MB cache difference got me so I went with the 3.0Ghz 6MB cache. The hard drive is fairly cheap and considering the specs it is just as good as the seagate with similar specs.

The graphic card of course is nice.

There are $85 of rebate in this build which will bring it down below $1000. So $9xx for a build like that I guess is not too too bad.

    I appreciate your opinion.

Re: FINAL BUILD - - - What do you think?

Pretty decent build. I wouldnt roll the dice on the Rosewill PSU though. Not saying go out and get a million watts, but I'd posit getting a bit better quality PSU, take care of that fine other hardware. The Rosewiill is at the bottom quality wise: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/101922.aspx . For around the same cashie, OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply. 5 more, much better. Personally I would dedicate a bit more $$ to a PSU, but thats me.

I would also look at a P45 board, there's some decent prices for the same money as that Gigabyte. I'd even be good with a newer P43.

You're right too, that HD is a rooll of the dice. If you dont know, Hitachis run hotter than any other drive. Heat means shorten life. There's a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Driv for the same $$$, but I'd posit a SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD502lJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM for $10 more. F1s are sweet sweet sweet.

The HD4850 is certainly a sweet choice, especially since I'm gonna order one myself this weekend. If you're all for the Sapphire card though, DO NOT expect the rebate back. myrebates411 is THE WORSE company handling rebates around. How Sapphire went back to this guy is beyond me. They have ripped so many people off it isnt funny. Read this guy's (its a one man operation from what I understand) BBB issuance: http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=100035461 He's got a grae of "F: for a reason. Read about them at the RebateReportCard: http://www.rebatereportcard.com/rebateratings/reportsearch.php?companyname=MyRebates411. Serious there friend, wanna avoid a headache, get another make. I'm going with Gigabyte myself.

Other than that man, build on.

Re: FINAL BUILD - - - What do you think?

You can actually get a Corsair TX 650W ATX12V Power Supply for $75 shipped, or 650W TX650W ATX12V Power Supply here too for $77 shipped. Can beat that anywheres.

Believe us man, a OCZ, Corsair, PCPC are all a safer bet over the long haul. Solid power delivery. Most of us will tell you that is key, and the Roseys are a craap shoot at best.

Re: FINAL BUILD - - - What do you think?

Thank you. I followed your advice. Does this look better:

Also, does Newegg acutally have Promo Codes like Dell which I can look up and use? Or is there a time where I should buy when things are a little cheaper? Or should I just buy now as there is hardly going to be a difference if I wait?

Re: FINAL BUILD - - - What do you think?

I just wanted you to be aware:  Some folks seem to still (as of a 7-14 review) be receiving the 2x160GB platter version of that hard drive instead of the 1x320GB platter version.  The 2-platter version is not a bad drive, per se, but the single is preferred.  If you're interested in this, read the reviews for the full part numbers.

Just remember if you plan on sticking with your xp pro 32 bit you will only be able to use/see 3-3.5gb of that 4gb of ram.
