transcend 4Gb compact flash not all there? help.

Hi all,

A coworker of mine just got a new transcend 4Gb compact flash card and it only shows up in windows and 2Gb and change he has already tried formatting it and windows only shows the same 2Gb and change volume for format.

Has anyone ever seen a problem like this? any thoughts on how to coax the other half of the volume out of hidding?

Did you check your pants pockets?

Maybe it uses two chips and one of them is bad..

Yeah I thought about that.

I talked to my friend again today and it seems it shows 2.93Gb total volume in windows, so if it was 4 1Gb chips and one is bad that would be about right with a little room for index. Anyway I told him to live boot linux and see what it shows up as there and try to format with linux. If no luck after that it's probably safe to assume a bad chip.
