I am having one heck of a time trying to fix my hibernation in x64 Vista. It doesn't show on the drop-right menu for shutting down and logging off, but it is the option I chose in power options. I tried to see if it was on in powercfg, via the command prompt, it was both available and set to on. I hit the button and it just locks the computer. Any help, please?

You didn't delete it, did you? If you ever cleaned out your C:\ drive, you could have deleted hibernation mode

Didn't think it was possible to do that. So, no, I don't think I did. I also just ran my annual system repair, off of the Vista x64 disc so I wouldn't think it'd have to do anything with the system files. Maybe a 3rd party app...

Well, can you give me the name(s) of the file(s) to check for, please?

maybe i deleted the hibernation data files when you did the disk cleanup, so you can restore it by this:

EDIT: Thanks for the try, but it didn't work, I also stumbles upon similar instructions, but they were of no use to me.
