    WD vs Seagate (oooh, Barracuda)

I thought a 250gb main hd with a 320 gig back up drive would be enough, but I like to record a lot of TV on my comp and backup 11 gigs worth of mp3s a lot. I recently noticed my backup hd was running low so I had to go through and delete a whole bunch of recorded stuff and I'm thinking I may need another hd and have one purely for recording tv and one for backups.

I thought about an external drive but they just dont seem worth it. Just another thing to take up space on your desk and mess with cables and worrying about someone hurting it. Its almost like having a backup organ just lying around, but anyways...

The two drives i've been looking at, a Western Digital http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073
    and a Seagate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148288

Both have around the same specs (500 gigs) but for just $15 more, the Seagate boasts twice more cache, though more people seem to like the cheaper WD. Is the extra cache worth the money?

Just my .02 :  Don't focus on cache.  Look at overall drive performance if that is your interest in a new drive.  =]
