Aedion:the ECS board is actually very good, go read some reviews on it. yes they tend to make low quality products but this black edition one is really decent. it too can overclock (big shocker right?) the CPU and the IGP. not to mention that it is ATX not mATX giving you an additional 3 expansion slots.
well, yes, it can overclock, but to a very limited extent. From the review of the ECS 780G motherboard at TweakTown:
TweakTown: Unfortunately,
without any real voltage adjustments or HT link dividers we didn’t get
past 208MHz FSB; so this board is not aimed at overclockers.
On the other hand, the Gigabyte board has a much better complement of overclocking features, including full voltage control, and HT link dividers. I was able to push an AMD 4200+ CPU up to around 3ghz on that board.
Having a full ATX board is nice, true. However, the ECS board is still missing some things, like the DVI ouput.
I guess you just have to decide what's most important to you. Low price, expansion slots, DVI output, overclocking features.
