    Need help on sound issue

    Hi All,

I have the Abit IP35 Pro motherboard and especially with the headphones I hear a lot of interferences and background noise (e.g. shhhhhhh). I have tried everything but the situation is still the same. I believe that the components are not very well shielded. Thus, I am thinking of adding a sound card but I would like to ask whether (according to your experience) such interferences can be filtered or not using a sound card.

Although it is very expensive, I have read lots of good reviews on the HT OMEGA CLARO Plus+ 7.1. Is this card OK for XP32 and XP64 (I have a dual boot system)? Alternatively I have seen on PC magazine the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional. Or the AuzenTech Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 7.1 Channels (which has got the mail-in rebate). Which of these do you suggest? Is there any good alternative that may be cheaper and with good sound quality (or a suggestion to reduce noise interferences)?

Please remember that my effort is to try to get rid of the annoying interferences.

Thank you very much for your help

On such a nice motherboard there shouldn't be such an issue with the background noise. You might want to Mute any inputs you have (Line-In, Microphone-In, etc.)

Make sure the only connections that you dont have on mute are microfone and sound of course. All line and cd have on mute. For the microfone make sure sound boost 20db isnt on. Also make sure cellphone is near your headset. <-- Happen to me yesterday cell went off causing static in my headset. I have the xfi elite, vista drivers are nice, but not as good as xp with the interface. But still wouldnt change from xfi. <-- im not on drugs!!! :P

Re: Need help on sound issue

If none of that works, sounds like something could possibly be wrong with your onboard sound card and if possible you might want to RMA the mobo.

How old is the mobo because if you still can rma it too newegg before rmaing it to the manf. Neweggs rma service is just so much faster and quicker when it comes to processing orders.

Re: Need help on sound issue

The mobo has been purchased in April this year. I have tried to mute what suggested with outsuccess. I heard other peolple complaining about this problem and I am trying to understand whether it is a mobo related problem or not.

    Thank you for helping

Re: Need help on sound issue

Does this happen on all the jacks???

You have the latest drivers from Realtek site??

Might try to get rid of any electronics that are near the computer or plugged into the same outlet, experiment.  Even an outlet on the same breaker may introduce interference.  Same with other headphones/speakers.

I had to buy a line filter to put between the stereo and tv after hooking something up, can't remember???  Not even sure if it is between stereo and tv.  Might be computer and stereo?  If you are getting it in the headphones it will not help much, as my problem was a low hum produced by something.

Re: Need help on sound issue

    Ms. Degan:

My first question would be are both 32 and 64 bit drivers installed?? If so perhaps there is a conflict in the works. All other suggestions offered to this point are valid.

    Just my nickels worth!!!!
