Is this CPU compatible?

    Is this CPU compatible?



    System Specs
    Athlon 64 (O) 3800+ 2.4 GHz

    Asus A8M2N-LA motherboard

    2 GB DDR2 RAM

    Windows XP Media Center Edition

    1 DVD/CD Drive

    1 177GB Hard Drive     1 8GB Hard Drive

    8600GT

    Antec SP 500

     

    I got an x2 5400+. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103769

    I installed it, turned on the PC, it wouldnt boot. There were no beeps, there were no signal to the monitor.

    I was wondering if it was incompatible, or was it faulty CPU?

    If you havn't already try upgrading to the newest bios

    According to everything I am seeing, your mobo should support at a minimum all 1st generation X2's.

    You want to check your connections to your motherboard and your PSU. It may be your PSU can not handle it. Everything says that your system should be able to run up to Athlon 64 X2 6400+. Hope this helpsSmile
