New Build and a blank screen - help!

    Introduction:
Yes I've built a computer before and it worked perfectly!  That was 4 years ago however, and maybe I'm just missing something simple.

    My build:
    > Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4
    > CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66 GHz
    > Graphics card: Asus En9600gt (PCI-e)
    > Ram: 2x2gb G.Skill DDR2-1066 PC2-8500
    > PSU: Corsair vx550w
    > DVD: LG GSA-H44L (IDE)
    > HD: Seagate 1TB F1 Spinpoint 7200 (SATA)
    > Windows Vista 64 is going to be installed

    My Progress:

    > I've looked up the stats on every part, and it seems like everything would be compatible.
    > Everything powers up fine (lights and fans turn on) and yes, the video card's power is connected and its fan is running.
    > I have read all of the manuals and made sure everything is connected
    > I've tried switching slave/master pins on the DVD drive
    > I've tried rearranging the ram in other configurations (now its back to slots 1 & 3)
    > I've tried 2 different monitors (DVI and VGA w/adapter)
    > I've tried both slots on the video card
    > I've tried different SATA slots for the hard drive

    My Problem:
    > No bios screen, no start up screen, no install screen - NOTHING except for "No Signal"
    > I need this computer up and running last week!

    Other notes:

    > According to the paperwork on the motherboard, there are 2 ATX connectors: One is a 2x12 pin connector labeled "ATX".  The other is a  pin connector labeled "ATX_12V".  I only have a cable for the 2x12 pin connector and nothing that would fit into the 2x2 except if I jimmied a 2x3 or 2x4 connection from the power supply (but I figured those are for auxillary components and not the motherboard. I have connected the 2x12 connection obviously (or there would be no power in the board).
    > I read somewhere that SATA drives don't pay attention to slave/master settings on the drive, so I haven't changed anything on there
    > I have connected the front panel of my case ( Xclio Wind Tunnel) to the motherboard and it seems to work fine.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the power cables? It looks like you're using a modular power supply. I have a modular power supply, and I had this problem on my last build. Simply disconnecting and reconnecting helped.

Also, don't take this the wrong way, but did you not put power cables in the video card? From your pictures, this appears to be the case, though it's tough to tell, since that center IDE ribbon from the optical drive is obscuring the area the power connectors on a video card usually are.

Sometimes a simple oversight is the cause of these problems.

You MUST connect the ATX 2x2 12v connector. Your psu should have came with one. Otherwise, it never will boot. If you do not have one, you must get one. The 2x3 plug should go to your video card, if needed.

    Asus P5E x38
    Intel E8400@3.6Ghz
    Corsair HX620
    Sapphire HD4850

Yea the 2 X 2 supplies power to the processor, it would never boot without it.

If your PSU comes with an 4 X 4 (8 pin) connector, see if it will come in half, thats probably what happened, its there you just didn't see it. (They slide apart). I have the corsair 750w PSU and it is the same way, most others are as well.

    Good luck.
