    CPU upgrade problems.

Today I recieved a AMD Athlon 4200+ X2 for my Compaq Presario SR2010NX with a ASUS A8M2N-LA Motherboard.

After quite a few hours of researching either it would work or not. I found quite a few sources that told me. It would work, but upon installation it didn't.  I made sure I correctly installed it.  Thermal Paste, and everything.  But, when I start my computer..BIOS will not load. Now, if you suggest updating BIOS I'm currently in the process.  But, for some reason gotta wait a while.

Any other basic troubleshooting ideas you guys can suggest?

    Re: CPU upgrade problems.

If your using Compaq bios they may not support the CPU. You will need to contact Compaq to see if they have bios for that mobo to support the chip. You just ran into one of the many problems in trying to upgarde an OEM machine.
