    Re: Need Help

$100 is a good budget for a cpu cooler.

But, we'll need to know the case you have to see if it will fit, cause some of them are big, real big. They even need you to remove your main board to install a support bracket there so big.

    Re: Need Help

Cool is right but the best 1 on the market overall is the Zalman 9700.

    Re: Need Help

I thought as much, considering as how zalman has always concentrated on quality over quantity, and ive had good experience with them in the past. The 9700 NT version (black) will go nicely with the two zalmans cooling my 8800 gt's :D. Asides from that though, im not worried i remember where everything goes and im working with a full ATX case with a removable tray although i think thats irrelevant at this point. Im going to take it all down and put it up again for personal comfort. Just consider me weird that way.

    Re: Need Help

If you're willing to go up to $100, why not conisder the baddest of the bad: Thermalright IFX-14 Internal Fire eXtinguisher AMD & Intel CPU Cooler (Socket AM2 / 775).

http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=485 , "The Thermalright IFX-14 is an outstanding CPU cooler and the best we have seen on the LGA775 platform.  No other air-cooler offers a better performance to noise ratio.  The overall construction and build quality is excellent."

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTMxNCwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA== "Modability is the best yet."

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=673 , "Taking a closer look at the results of the IFX-14, the heatsink doesn’t fail to impress. In the high fan speed fan section the IFX-14 scores quite well, with the Delta 120x38mm 3200rpm fan the CPU temperature drops to an all time low of 37°C under full load! Using the slightly slower 2900rpm 120x25mm fan the results are on par with the Ultra-120, at 43.5°C.

Zallies are great, this Fire eX, is it!!!

(Some dude who did an early review griped about a non-flush surface as a reason for his bad review temps . I believe it turned out, the guy put it on wrong, so if you see any bad reviews, keep that in mind. A few people ran with it.)

    Peace, Penewah!

    Re: Need Help

Support for up to three 120/140mm fans

    OMG WTF.

3X 140MM FANS? Im sorry but thats just plain old batshit insanity to me. But that does seem like it would be a good cooling option.. But omgwtf three, not two, not one, THREE 140mm fans. Seems like it would be a step in the right direction, where would i go about acquiring one of these bad boys? As they dont seem to be sold anywhere lol. I cant find em on amazon or newegg.

    Re: Need Help

LOL, its cooling at its finest man. That link is to FrozenCPU. They're a really good company. Very dependable, great shipping, almost NE quality. I think the # of fans is optional isnt it? But in any case, like I said, if you got a benjiman burning a hole in your wallet. There's also the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Heatsink - (Socket 775 / AM2),  the 120Ex will generally out cool the Zalman line too.

I dont know what it is either. We've posted on the forum asking why NE doesnt carry to 120 Extreme or even IFX-14 for that matter, seeing how they carry other Thermalright stuff, but they never ever answer us. You'd think being THE hardware reseller, they'd carry it. But everytime we post a thread it's ignored like the plague. So anyone has to go elsewhere to buy them.

Google the 120 Extreme you'll see some great benches on those too.

    Peace, Penewah!

    Re: Need Help

that looks good too but if i had to choose between the 120 and the zalman id choose the zalman simply because of ease and comfort in mind.. But if im going to go all out i might as well get the ifx.. But then again why not just get a barrel of liquid nitrogen :P? Anyway, How exactly to i config the IFX with the fans? Do i just slip them on/in?

They clip on man. Hey, I just threw them two out there. All the coolers being tossed around will get the job done. Not as much as the Liq NO2 but ................ LOL.

Have you seen the Scythe  Orochi? http://hardwarelogic.com/news/137/ARTICLE/3762/2008-07-02.html

    Or the Cooler Master V10 / V8? http://www.dvhardware.net/article24416.html

I mean where talking coolers that need re-enforced mobos!!! LOL.

These things arent available yet though. They're still busy with a team of dudes with Cetylene torches soldering the darn things up. Big Smile

Actually, take a look at the Xigmatek 120mms, they're a good value. http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-hdts1283.php

    Re: Need Help

The V10 is big as hell, They had both running at CES in the CSX booth. There actually very light to pick up. They both look heavy do to their size but there not. I can't wait till it comes out I want one. But you have to have the case for it as well there tall.

    Re: Need Help

Well i can tell you this much, im waiting for either the v12 or im going to just get a zalman/IFX right now. The choice is up to me, but i would be much more comfortable simply putting the contents of my case into a bin and just dumping liquid no2 on top. Problem solved.
