    auto logoff?

I am running Windows XP pro service pack 3

    Started as follows:

Got a new projector thats vga, plugged it into one of my slots via a vga->converter, worked fine, then It says "lost signal" Attempted to plug back in the monitor that WAS plugged in before the projector.

Not detecing that as well now, so I restart the computer.

Upon coming to the logon, 2 things happen.

Either it will login and sit at my blank screen w/ wallpaper, no shortcuts for about 20 seconds then going back to the login screen or

doesnt even get to the wallpaper and continuously says logging off as soon as I login

    Things I have tried:

    1. safemode
    2. safemode with network
    3. safemode with command prompt all 3 when trying to log into administrator do the exact same thing
    4. last known configuration
    5. vga mode
    6. putting a windows cd and running recover console did chkdsk /r found and fixed one error, problem still occured, then i  tried cd system32
      copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
    still nothing..

if anyone has any ideas PLEASE..

    Re: auto logoff?

Is it rebooting when your old monitor is in place? It sounds like something is corrupted with your windows installation? If its rebooting itself in safe mode it sounds that windows is damaged. Have you tried a repair using the windows CD? I think that may be  the best bet.

Sounds like the video card came loose when you were figiting with the cord, try taking out the video card and putting it back in.

O wait you didn't even list a video card in specs, if using onboard video, the onboard video device may not be ably to use the resolution of your projector.

Also did you install the drivers before you put the projector on? that might help to. (if it will let you)
