    Help Me Choose!

Budget is $200.00, but don't really want to spend that much.

    Choices:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 ($139.99) or Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (199.99).  I have 4GB of RAM, ASUS P5N-E SLI, and EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX KO.  I am wanting to upgrade my current CPU which is a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 HT so I can take full advantage of what my system will do.  I just cannot decide which CPU I want.

You may also want to consider the E8400 3.0Ghz C2D.

A nice CPU for the money. All three are nice though, just comes down to how much you want to spend.

    Re: Help Me Choose!

it is hard to choose. it depends on what the purpose of the rig. if you are a hard core gamer or ocer, it is better to go with E8400 and if you do a tons of multi tasking,   Q6600 is a good choice.  E7200 is a great bang for the buck and E8200 is not bad so.

if i were you, ill go with Q6600.

    Re: Help Me Choose!

The Q6600 all the way. No chance of it bottlenecking any other parts of the system, and you'll never run of the cycles. Big Smile

    Re: Help Me Choose!

This question has been nagging at me a little bit as well.  I've been looking at the E8200 and its Quad core clockspeed equivalent.  I'm trying to figure out for primarily gaming (although I do other things) purposes, if the quad core is worth the extra cash, or if I should actually considering swinging a lower clockspeed quad core like a 2.5
