I just built a new P.C. out of stuff I have gathered and bought, and I'm finding the processor may be a bit slow, it's a celeron D,  what would be an acceptible upgrade for my computer processor? what information do I need to make my choice, or is this an easy one and I'm over thinking it, is it like getting memory where there's many stats that you have to know?

Well, you first have to find out what the fastest processor that Dell motherboard will take. What Dell PC is it?

SergiV is right you can't really choose untill you get more info about the motherboard you're working with.  I happen to know from eperience that dell's website has a supper collection of motherborad manuals and spec sheets for pretty much any computer they have ever built so if you have the modle of the original dell pc or the modle of the motherboard just search it at dell.com and you should find all the answeres you seek.  All you really need to know is what type of cpu socket does it have what is the maximum FSB and what processor lines are compatible with the chipset on the board.

If you want to get fancy about it look up what chipset the motherboard was based on and search around a bit for what processor lines or specifically what stepping performs best with that chipset.

Off the top of my head CeleronD's were socket 370 or 478 and judging from your memory i would guess it's a 478 wich gives you plenty of options depending on the chipset.

It's a GX 620.

It is a 478, and thanks for the info on the dell site, I get into upgrade mode so much that I loose sight of the simple fact that web sites have a wealth of info for me.

This Pentium 4 3.0Ghz should work
