    Best portable video player

What would be the best choice for a device to watch videos on the plane?

My two main criteria are battery life and screen size. I'd like the device to last a while, and have the ability to use an external battery pack and it should have a decent screen size. Portability is not the most important factor, so it doesn't necessary have to fit in my pocket.

I could get the Archos 605 which of course would be great since it has a lot of storage, but it only does video. So my other two consideratins are a Sony PSP or an iPod touch. I know i am loosing out on storage, but i am getting more features. I am leanig towards a PSP, but since my main purpose is to watch movies on the plane, i could easily go with something else.

That that point I would get a portable DVD player. IMO for a reason I can not see why any one would want to strain their eyes on a 1.5" - 2" screen.

For portable gadgets, battery is most important thing I care~~ the second thing is its capacity! I do not care too much about its size!

that's the reason i am asking about this

did anyone use a PSP to watch movies on the plane for over 10 hours? Archos looks like a really good player, but besides video it can't really be used for anything else.

I have looked at a movie playing on a PSP and I was unable to make out certain things in the movie. As for the Archos I can't really tell you on that one.

    Re: Best portable video player

i watch movies on my iPod nano, but it's true that focusing on the tiny screen for hours would strain my eyes

the screen size of PSP is okay, u can also play games besides watching movies, haha, and the battery could last for like 10 hours if u simply watch movies, and around 6 hours even if u play games.  so IMO PSP would be a better choice ")

True....I don't think it's wise to watch movies with iPod touch, little screen.

Archos 605, as u stats, it only does video, but PSP is the right product for those who like to play games and watch movies on a handheld device and occasionally listen to music or surf the Internet. Bet u can spend a nice time on the plane with PSP, and it's also with large capacity, 32MB / Video Memory - 2MB EDRAM.

Not sure whether it can last 10 hours for movie watching, but listening to music can hold about 10 hours. well, here is a nice review u may wanna have a look. Hope it would help. XD

"The battery lasts about 4-5 hours when playing games that are not using the Wi-Fi connection. Listening to music drains the battery in about 10 hours and you can watch 2 feature-length movies at one charge."
