    Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Since I enjoyed Lucky Star so much, I decided I should check this anime out, being referenced so many times in Lucky Star.

It's about a high school girl who is obsessed with aliens, espers, and other paranormal stuff.  So she starts a club based on this, and forces a number of other people into the club.   So far, up through episode 8, the show is mostly about the situations the club gets into while trying to satisfy Haruhi's unreasonable demands.  There's also hints about a larger story, but I haven't watched enough yet to see how it plays out.

So it's kind of a mix between story and randomness, kind of like Excel Saga.  Only less crazy.  I like it.

To make things even better when this series 1st ran on TV in japan they ran the shows out of order so you really had to have good notes to follow it at all.

I have not started watching yet as I could only afford disc one of the series so for.  Bandei is charging crazy high prices for anime these days due to the near collapse of their business due to pirating.

This part confused me for the first few episodes, until I figured out what was happening.  I didn't need the notes, since I watched the whole show at once.

At each of the episode previews, one character always gives the incorrect number for the next episode, to be corrected by another character.  I haven't checked, but I have a strong suspicion that these 'wrong' episode numbers would follow the chronological ordering of the episodes.  That's neat.

Interesting.  The US release is in the correct order and the US collectors editions have both the correct order and the original Japanese broadcast out of order with only subs no dubs.  (kinda odd)
