USB printer compatibility

    USB printer compatibility

    Not being very technically literate, I submit these questions.

    How can I connect an hp L7590 printer whose USB is 2.0 to a 6 year old 15"
    flat panel iMac whose USB is either 1.0 or 1.1?

    Or, are all hp printers backwards compatible and the worst that can happen is
    that speeds will not be maximum?

    usb 2.0 is backwards compatible and like you said, the speed will be slower but everything should work fine

    Just make sure that the printer is compatible with the Mac OS.  Some dont have issues some do but if yours isnt working its not the cable, its the printer
