Fold@Home needs more support from our members. This is a non-profit little to no cost to you and could help find a cure for numerous diseases or possibly stopping people ever getting them again plus it will advance our knowledge base on the folding of proteins. Links

If folding for the cause isn't enough to motivate then consider that folding can be a very competitive community, with many people tweaking their pcs to crank out work units as fast as possible. Most enthusiast forums have a folding community and I see know reason why we eggxperts should be left out or worst required to fold for another team!

Folding@home is a great way to test your system for stability, even oced computers that pass prime torture tests fail under F@H

Folding@home will not slowdown you pc like many believe. It runs in the background 24/7 and only uses idle processing power.

Agreed with Kardon, F@H is a great way to test a system's stability. 

While, there are thousands of users in the eggxpert forum only 80 of us are actually using this software.  Of course, this is not mandatory but it would make a different in the medicial research team.  I am encouraging everyone to participate to help out others or someone you care about, who knows this may be one day be a solution to solve disease and save one's life.

Yes I too agree with Kardon but the real problem is how do we get the EGGXPERT MEMBERS to start to participate in the program. We need to grab their interest by some means, whether it be by badges, competition, incentives or what ever ideas are feasible. 

I think one of our biggest problems is educating forum users about folding at home and letting them know that newegg has a team. I think a front page article on the eggxpert home page (like the one fore the nvidia interview) would to wonders. I think it would do especially well if it was announcing some sort of a badge program or a competition.

Another problem we face is the number of active eggxpert users. From what I can tell we have maybe 20-30 very active members that care about the community and the rest just swing by to get a question answered and vanish after that. I'm not sure there is any feasible method of getting the bulk of  the eggxpert community to particapate when they only come to the forum  once every few months or less.

Yea I went through a recomendation to the eggstaff to see about dropping members who did not post but once in a blue moon. Its more like about 150 - 200 that post more than once or twice every 6 months but even if we could get 25-50 more members Folding that would certainly help a lot.

If we can get the Uber attention and they might able to get this idea to the eggstaff better than we can.

well, I just downloaded the software.... but I'm not sure eggxactly how it works... it says it cannot connect to work server...

Glad to hear its working for you. Sometimes their system gets maxed out with downloads, uploads and people checking out their web page or stats it can be 3-4 hours to get rolling. Then again on a slack day it can upload and download so fast it will make your head spin.

can I still join this team if I use my PS3 to do the folding? (might as well put my PS3 into using doing something)

We are happy to have anybody who is willing to fold for the betterment of mankind! If you have never been in a nursing home or retirement center and seen the misery of our elders that suffer from these diseases or even a cancer center it is heart ripping to see in person. 5 year old children to 80 year old men & women suffering from so many different cancers and ailments.
