    Crysis help!?!

Hey guys I just bought 2 9600gt's and set them in SLI thinking that ill get some great graphics out of it, but I put it on DEVMODE and it showed the FPS and most of the time it wasnt above 30! What the @#%@! Well then I was kinda thinking to myself is my processor bottlenecking my performance? I am running and AMD 4600+ 2.4ghz 2 gigs of ram and 2 9600gt's is my processor slowing me down?

I am going to get another 2 gigs of ram to total 4gigs but should i step up my processor? If so I was thinking about an AMD 6000+ 3.0ghz

    Thanks for the replys

    Re: Crysis help!?!

Are you using a patched version?

If not, enter the console (~) and enter "con_restriced=0" then "r_multigpu" <ENTER> if it does not read "1" or "2", then enter "r_multiGPU=1".

     See if that helps.

    Check my specs.

    Crysis Setting:

    Very high, DX10, 1680x1050.

    Min FPS=9, Average=23, Max=33.

Maybe 2 GTX will make it Average = 30+? Idk.

    Re: Crysis help!?!

first of all if ur thinking of buying an SLI system for Crysis , dont bother mate that game dosnt support SLI :) .

u have a good computer !! ur rams are good and it should run smoothly ! lower ur settings in the game and close applications that are working in the background to increase the performance ! and ur FPS is slow and im sure because of ur settings ! just go for an Auto Detect and try that (if u havnt already) if u did well try the above and patch the game !!

    Re: Crysis help!?!

Wouldn't hurt. I'm getting pretty good performance out of a 6000+, and I've playe dit on 4000+/4200+ and its wasnt as good by far. I can still get some lag every so often now with the 6000+ (w/ 8800GT SSC , 59FPS solid.) The Minimum is 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster (Vista), so a better CPU, again, probably wouldn help.

9600GTs SLI'd should be doing much better, so somethings up. Darn game is so resource intensive, I don't even think the minimums are close to being enough.

    Peace, Penewah!

    Re: Crysis help!?!

Remember a 9600GT is not a high end video card and your expectations will not get you into trouble.  Also Crysis has bloated code and runs poorer than it should have.  They are cleaning up the code to port it to the 360.  Bummer is I do not think all that cleaned up code will ever make it back to the PC as a patch.

Are you running Vista?  2 more gig might help, XP not so much if at all.

Also you will not see a large performance boost going to the 6000+ CPU.

Might be best to go to the 6400+ or save your monies for a new AM2+ or current generation Intel based system.

    Re: Crysis help!?!

I'm pretty sure it does work with SLI, the driver support might not be the best but it will should work.

I think your first mistake was running it straight out of the box on two brand new graphics cards in SLI mode.

I'd recommend updating the game and the graphics card drivers and see if that corrects your problem.

I've seen benchmarks running crysis and only the super high-end cards seem to be getting more than 30fps on high settings at a high resolution. If it were another game like SupCom I'd say it's your CPU holding you back but this one seems to be very gpu dependant.

Hope patching helps with your problem

    Re: Crysis help!?!

Crysis DOES support SLI. A simple Google search shows that. You may have to download and install a patch for better performance from SLI, but it DOES work.

Honestly, I spent $500 for a set of 8800GTs 6 months ago and I don't think it was worth it. A single 8800GT plays on High with ~30fps (C2D E6600 @ 2.4GHz, 2GB DDR2 800MHz, P5B Deluxe). After using a 680i board and the SLI setup, I didn't think playing with a mix of Very High and High was worth the money.

Oh, that was on my 1680x1050 resolution also. Thought I should point that out.
