I was just about to post a question concerning this. I noticed the ad banner below on it... and also there was a thread about this back in 07 apparently.

    Cool!

Good questions.  I really hope our current accounts will work... but if they don't, that's ok too.

    Re: Neweggmall.com Launches!!!

This news is alarming to me.  Newegg is on the top of my list because it has unusual attributes.  Low prices, efficient shipping, and generally very good customer service are the main reasons why I shop there.  Also, I shop there because said attributes are uncommon in the competing businesses.  By expanding the scope of the company and and creating new branches, Newegg is becoming more like the everyday corporation.  And since their uncommon attributes are rarely found in the everyday corporation, I am worried that this is not a positive thing.

Also, why would I buy watches and auto parts from newegg?  The got their start in CE, so why are they moving a large amount of resources away from CE?  As Mitch Hedberg said, "It’s as though I was a cook, I worked my a** off to become a really good cook, and they say ‘OK, you’re a good cook. But can you farm?’”  The answer to this question is rhetorical.  Of course, I could be pleasantly surprised by this new site, but I'm hesitant to believe that that will be the case.

     Best of luck,

    Stefan

There isn't much I buy online other than books and tech stuff but if it's nice to know that NewEgg has another area to shop at in case I do want/need something.

    Re: Neweggmall.com Launches!!!

It's a different direction... not sure what I think of it.  I was surprised to see a Newegg paper advert in the sunday Seattle Times.  I can understand why they would want to branch out.  If they are successful, there's a much broader market of consumers.  I lament about REI becoming a clothing store, but they profit much more from that than hiking and climbing gear.  Maybe Newegg can do the same.

If so... when are they going public? Idea

they should look into music equipment... the markup on that stuff is terrible... i mean, if you know who to talk to you can get great deals, but having to call around for quotes sucks...
