This news is alarming to me. Newegg is on the top of my list because it has unusual attributes. Low prices, efficient shipping, and generally very good customer service are the main reasons why I shop there. Also, I shop there because said attributes are uncommon in the competing businesses. By expanding the scope of the company and and creating new branches, Newegg is becoming more like the everyday corporation. And since their uncommon attributes are rarely found in the everyday corporation, I am worried that this is not a positive thing.
Also, why would I buy watches and auto parts from newegg? The got their start in CE, so why are they moving a large amount of resources away from CE? As Mitch Hedberg said, "It’s as though I was a cook, I worked my a** off to become a really good cook, and they say ‘OK, you’re a good cook. But can you farm?’” The answer to this question is rhetorical. Of course, I could be pleasantly surprised by this new site, but I'm hesitant to believe that that will be the case.
Best of luck,
Stefan
