'Erm, it's just supply and demand.. If they're running low, they'll bump the price up.. It's strange that they do that for some items and not for others.. For example, the HDTV I'm buying, I really wish they would bump the price up because it keeps going out of stock around the time I get my paycheck and then when it comes in, I don't have the money (spent it on new tires)..I'd say, going in and out of stock on an item is a much greater annoyance than a slight price fluctuation.. If they bump the price up a bit, then some people will go elsewhere to buy it, while others who want NewEgg quality customer service wouldn't mind paying a few bucks more for it.. Really, I'd pay almost $100 more for the TV if I knew it would be in stock and I could order it around the time I get my paycheck... Problem is, it goes out of stock and nobody knows when it will be back in (days? weeks? MONTHS???) since it's such a hot item and people swarm to NewEgg from other sites because people link to it since it's such a great deal.. So sometimes I really wish they did bump the price up on some items like HDTVs and hot-model Blu-Ray players before they run out of stock so there's at least one left for me when I get my paycheck in..
Especially since many Manuf. limit the number of supplies they give to each retailer. If they gave all their supplies to one retailer, then that retailer would be the only company that you'd be able to buy it from.. Since there likely isn't enough to give unlimited number of the items to every retailer for new items, the release of the item to retailers / online shops is controlled and they're only allowed X many a month to sell... Quite annoying, manufacturers want to reward retailers for carrying their goods by making sure they get at least a couple of the items instead of giving them all to one retailer / online store to sell.. So it's quite possible NewEgg might not be capable of getting any more 9850 BE chips from AMD this month and instead of selling out, they're just bumping the price up a bit so those who only want to buy it from NewEgg still can..
Just a guess, but if that's the case, I certainly have no problem with it..
Onboard RAID vs. 3Ware RAIDI never recommend people run RAID-5 with onboard chipsets.
