Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
Hi all,
It is very nice to meet all of you here.
I would like to give you a brief introduction of myself and I hope all of you can find something in common or something different about me.
Davy07, I am one of the new egg's in this community and an old fashioned guy in this high speed society. I am enjoying the colorful life that is present here.
As mentioned above, actually there is nothing new for me. A poor guy loves movies to death. It is cool that No country for old men swept the Academy Awards a few days ago. But there are lots of movies that were not awarded that deserved to be. So if time permitted, I was always watching old video tapes in the late night. Yep, Once Upon A Time In America was always my favorite. Robert De Niro, the old guy, is always one I admire.
Sports? Oh, yes, I love soccer not your football . Euro 2008 is coming soon. You know, the merry ‘watch lots of matches’ day comes. I will scream like Linkin Park when my favorite team scores in this tournament. By the way, I like music very much, Linkin Park is a rather cool band, furthermore, Greenday, Nickelback, and of course U2 are always my favorites.
And of course I love Chinese culture, if you want to know more about China, please no hesitate to tell us and we will inform you.
Well, so much for this, it is really my privilege to meet all of you here and it is a great honor to be a member of this fabulous team.
I hope all of you very well.
Yours sincerely,
Davy07

Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
Hello, everyone!
I am yinzh888, 22 years old, and I joined in this forum in January. So excited to meet you guys here!
One of my favorite hobbies is reading. I can learn a lot through reading. Reading Shakespeare’s works, I know what Hamlet looks like. Reading Socrates, I can see what great ancient Greek philosophers are. Reading Lu Xun (a great writer in China), I come back to the old times of China.
In addition to reading, I also like pop music. Avril Lavigne is my favorite. I love Avril's songs very much. She is amazing! Great voice and brilliant performer! I have all her CDs and know all her songs.
EggXpert is a great place of communication and it feels fantastic to work here. I hope we can become friends in this forum.
Thanks for reading!

Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
Hey, I am a newbie and very happy to join you!
Now, look at the picture! That boy in yellow is me!
Do you know what I am wearing? If you are familiar with Chinese movies,
you will find they are Chinese traditional
clothing. China,
with more than five thousand years history, has many different dynasties; most
of them have their own special clothing style. Wearing the clothing of East Jin
dynasty, we were performing a traditional Chinese play called “Liang Zhu” or
“Butterfly lovers” on the New Year’s Party. I am the boy who loves performing and
dreams to be an actor.
In my spare time, I always watch some plays and dramas, and even try to
imitate the actors’ performing! I love watching movies especially American movies.
My favorite drama is “Romeo and Juliet” and movie "Titanic”.
If I feel sad sometimes, I love to watch some funny videos on Youtube or
some comedies to abate my sadness.
Now I think you guys may get some idea of who I am. Hope you enjoy this forum as much as I do!

Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
Thank you SJ. You are so
nice. Here we go.
Hi all,
This is Maplerine. I am
really glad to introduce myself to you guys here.
Hey, has anyone ever
lived in a “Natural History Museum”? Well I do. Sure, it’s definitely Xi’an which bears
cultural and historical significance as well as abundant relics and sites. Can
you image that I have chance to look at Terracotta Warriors and Horses--the
eighth major miracle of the world, and Mountain Hua each day? It's just
Awesome…? ( don’t be so jealous!! )
I love reading and
writing in my spare time, Especially, I’m fond of literature, poetry and
philosophy. Sometimes I am trying to write some poems when thoughts strike me.
Here is one of my collections I’d like to share with you guys. The following
poem may express my wish, love and confidence to make good friends with you in
this great forum. my collection:
Love is patient, love is
kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it
is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always preserves, love never fails...
Well, I love my job, this
great forum and cherish our big and warm family. No matter where you are, what
you do, how rich you are. What matters most is you guys are beside me in this
forum.
Cheers! (Love you all)

mengyawen:
Now, look at the picture! That boy in yellow is me!
I've seen something very similar to that recently (couple weeks ago) at the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular..There was a Theatre talk right before the show and there were a bunch of Chinese men and women dressed similarly in yellow and doing meditation exercises.. Interesting stuff, though their clothing was not as elaborate or fancy as yours was.. Their's was just a plain shiny yellow... mengyawen:

If you loved titanic, I highly recommend you check out some of the Korean love movies.. They're REALLY good and many of them have a tragedy story line that is similar to Romeo and Juliet and titanic. In fact, they're so good that there are a few Korean movies that I've seen that are even more emotionally powerful than Titanic. Even the Korean music videos are quite emotionally powerful.. . It's strange how so much of the world can so easily overlook such gems at the academy awards. Really, I didn't even watch the academy awards, I already know which movies are great .. Of course that's because I have Korean, Japanese, and Chinese friends who tell me.. hehehe.. maplerine:

Wow~~~!! I am jealous. I do plan on going to China sometime this year.. I haven't planned out my itinerary yet, but since I have only one week to spend there, it's difficult to choose what things to visit in so little time! maplerine: my collection:

Very nice! Do you have it handwritten in calligraphy somewhere? I've always heard that the style of Chinese poem writing tells much about the poem. I mean to say, it is always more on paper than the sum of the Chinese characters. Hmmm... Did I just use a Chinese proverb to describe Chinese poems to a Chinese poet? I'm strange like that. maplerine:Well, I love my job, this

Welcome to EggXpert! I hope you like it here.. If you have any more poems you want to share, be sure to post them up so we can read them.. .About Me: I recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science and I'm working as a programmer here in the U.S... I'm not Chinese or Korean or Japanese (most people seem to think so for some reason).. Just 100% American of european descent and I write software, work on computers and when I'm bored with that, I jump into learning Asian culture and languages whenever I have the chance.. And yes, I've studied Chinese, Korean, and Japanese languages, though I'm not very good at any of them..

Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
Hey Guys, Thanks for all ur warm and kind greetings.
PROACEX1: wow. great music! thanks for ur share.
Sidicas: Awesome!! Welcome to China. Hmm…I bet the right place u should visit first is Beijing, capital of China and also the host city of 2008 Olympic Games. Then, of course, the city of Xi’an (I will introduce my hometown in my blog later. Hope u guys like), will be a great place to taste historical and cultural heritage. If given chances, u may have a look at our Newegg’s subsidiary. Er...if u wanna enjoy landscape, Suzhou or Hangzhou will turn out to be a good choice. Sure, u should also keep Shanghai as one of ur schedule, which is China’s economic center and a quite modern metropolis. So… u will travel from the north of China to the south. If u wanna east to west, I will keep u in the loop. Good luck.
I’m so glad u like this poem. Yeah, I have some handwritten poems kept in my special book. (I’m keen on collecting and writing beautiful words and poems on campus ) As u say, Chinese poems always have their connotations rather than the simple combination of characters, especially Chinese ancient but splendid poetry. Of course, it will be my honor to share my favorites with u guys. I will send u tons of them if u want.
prtuc2: COOL. Yep, Xi'an is also famous for its rich historical sites. Dinosaurs fossils...they are really fantastic. well you should go back and see great changes of this city if u have any chance.

Re: Xi'an Team Introductions
I love the beautifully artistic hand drawn and meticulously crafted Chinese characters...Each stroke of the ink brush use in ancient calligraphy can tell much more then what could be said in English, or other newer, simplier languages, especially when in the hands of a true poet and artist who is skilled in the Four Arts; a much more direct link to the heart then say, a normally written language, except that which is heartfelt...An art form, if you will...
Look forward to seeing all of you in the forums!
Respectfully,

Re: Please Welcome our new China team!!!
Thanks for your greetings, and welcome to Xi’an.
Famous for its Terra cotta Warriors and for being one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Xi’an is one of the most popular destinations in China. It is a magical and energetic city, approach it!
