    how to install a linux wireless card driver

    ok i have a smcwpcit-g wireless card (aerthos)  and need to know how to install the linux driver for it.. By the way i havent put in the card first so if i have to please tell me

    its on Ubuntu 7.10

    Current PC:
    OS: XP/Vista/7/Ubuntu 9.10
    CPU: Q6600
    Chipset: Biostar TP43D2A7
    RAM: 2x512Mb
    HDD: 3x500 GB SATA
    CD/DVD Drive: Asus and LG Dual Layer DVD Burner with Lightscribe
    Vid Card: Asus 8800GT 512 MB

    I think you unzip the file into a folder on your desktop then use the package manager to open/install it. You then need to tell it to look for the file where you left it.

    I could be wrong though

    Mr freezy's post would work for windows only cards with ndiswrapper. 

    But atheros has good support in linux

    assuming your OS doesn't come with drivers for it you can get them here: 

    http://madwifi.org/

    http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo

    check if you already have the module loaded by typing this in root:

    modprobe ath_pci

    lsmod | grep ath

     If it doesn't work, then you need to get madwifi.

    put your card in first, then boot up Linux and follow my post from there.
