    60gb v 80gb

This is an old question I am sure, but now that I'm spending 500$ I want to hear your answer again. The Playstation 3   80gb will play playstation 2 games, right? Months ago the complaint was the 60gb would but the 80gb would not. Is there anything I should know before I buy it instead of the 360? Thanks.

    Re: 60gb v 80gb

Off the top of my head i believe the 80GB PS3 does play PS2 games.  I think the 40GB is the only one that will not at this point.  The 80GB does so via software, the 60GB does so via hardware.

All life's wisdom crammed into one line.
And awesome computer specs on another.

    Re: 60gb v 80gb

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3 wiki say the 80GB will run ps2 games with software. http://www.trustedreviews.com/gaming/news/2007/07/11/E3-80GB-PS3-Less-Backwards-Compatible/p1.  If you like the ps2 go for the 60GB version and that is the one I have.

    Re: 60gb v 80gb

Regarding the North American releases, from what I understand, the 80GB is backwards compatible via software emulation and the 60GB via hardware (Emotion Engine). I got my PS3 at launch though, so I haven't been keeping up with all the new models. You might want to double check before purchasing.
