    Replace Memory vs. Add More

    Right now myextremely slow Dell Inpiron 1100 has these memory specs when I used the CPU-Z program:

    General:

    Type=DDR; Size= 128 MB

    Timings:

    Frequency=132.9 MHz; FSB:DRAM=3:4

    When I used the Newegg Memory Selector It gave me this as one of the options:

    Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 266 (PC 2100) Notebook Memory Model KVR266X64SC25/512 - Retail

    My question is this: Should I add something like this to my laptop or should I start over with faster memory? Any sugessions are extremely helpful.  Thanks in advance!!

    Re: Replace Memory vs. Add More

    When you open up the memory port on the bottom of your laptop, is the memory slot filled or empty?

    That 128MB you have might be fixed. (Soldered on chips as opposed to a SODIMM module).

    If that is the case you can only add the # of modules you have free (probably just 1).

    If it's removable you can obviously populate the # of slots open w/ SODIMMs.
