Do these keep the YouTube logo on the bottom right corner when you save/convert the videos?

Re: Save your fav youtube videos to your HD

    OR!

you can just use any site like this that parses the flv url from a page..

    http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

there's even a firefox extension that does this.. (http://www.sephiroth.it/weblog/archives/2006/10/xul_and_xulrunner_costarring_f.php

i like to have them in the original flv file format since they're very light.

to play the flv files in any media player of your choice, download the ffdshow codec...

    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/ffdshow.html

but if you still insist on converting the flv's to another format, you can follow these instructions...

    http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/YouTube_Google_Download_FLV_to_AVI_page3.html

but personally, i prefer using SUPER  (simplified universal player encoder & decoder)

    http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/YouTube_Google_Download_FLV_to_AVI_page3.html

..all that with non-proprietary software! :)

I haven't downloaded it yet, but the reviews weren't very good

perhaps if you are already using it you could write up a simple walkthrough as it sounded like many couldn't get it to work.

Oh I am very sorry Dan, I did not see your post till today.  You might want to try some of the other options people have put up here.

To be honest I am not a big youtube fan and I never bother to save any thing off that site as the video quality of youtube video is rather low.  Most of the youtube videos I have seen are posted on these forums or sent to mei via Email links.

Re: Save your fav youtube videos to your HD

I've used www.keepvid.com  Works for youtube and a bunch of common video sites.  I use it to get the .flv files, and then i can play them on a .flv player or capture the audio as an mp3.  I'm not really into having those weird flv files on the computer, and having a special player, but there's some stuff that can be short lived on youtube.  Some of my favorite stuff, like Rejected and Metalocalypse episodes are constantly being taken down due to copyright stuff...

Thanks Mei. How many video you have snatched from Youtube? ^_^

I remember I once saw a website, which can decode URL of a youtube video and covert to a link you can download that video clip. It is developped by a programmer for testing purpose. That's also sweet. No need to install anything on your computer. Unfortunately, I don't find that webpage anymore.

Re: Save your fav youtube videos to your HD

Wow, cant believe i didnt see this before.  Would have saved me the chore of finding one.

The one i found is zamzar.com.  Its all web-based, no app.  But you can add a button to your browser, then when you see a good vid, you hit the button and it then takes you to their page.

Then all you do is put in your e-mail and the file type you want it in and when it gets done (less than 2 min. later) it will e-mail you the download link.

You can also use it on myspace.  And, you can even have it convert videos and audio and many other document types on your computer or internet to a ton of different formats.

I think its worth checking out.

Re: Save your fav youtube videos to your HD

I always have used the free one.  If you look under tools, there is a bookmark you can add in IE or a button you can add in FF.  I just use my bookmark or button while viewing a youtube video, then  it takes me to the site and then i just put in my e-mail and file type and it e-amils me a link within 10 or so minutes.

Re: Save your fav youtube videos to your HD

I wonder if there is a way I could use this type of thing by just copying and pasting all of my YouTube favourites into a program and it just convert it and download it for me...Hmm
