Ugh, price drop the very next day

I just ordered an eVGA 8800GTS 640MB video card yesterday and today the price dropped by $5.  Considering I don't even have the card yet, I don't suppose Newegg would be kind enough to give me a $5 credit or anything?  I've been a customer of Newegg for years now and have spent a lot of money with them.  It would be nice if they could do something for me.

I have heard that they do if you call and talk to the reps on the phone. But things change. We ordered a camera once, and the next day got an email with the camera on special. Its always irritating, but it happens.

In today's newsletter there was a promo code to get $10 off the HD I got yesterday. Not much I can do.

Re: Ugh, price drop the very next day

The same thing happens every day at the gas station, you cant go back in the next day or even later in the same day and get the new lower price, though they would probably listen to your offers to pay them more when it goes up.

For most things it is a savings of a couple bucks when there are price changes so it doesnt matter too much; however, there are probably going to be a few upset people if they find out about the Intel cpu price drops if they are buying right now as that amount looks to be quite a bit bigger than a couple bucks.  Or really for anytime cpu's do price cuts, AMD or Intel.  Here in the forums the upcoming drops are well known and there are many people posted they are waiting just for it but I would guess most people buying do not visit these forums.

Well, $5 is $5 when you're laid off.  I've had great experiences with their customer service in the past and was just hoping I'd be satisfied again.  I know I could call, but I thought I'd check to see if I get contacted through this forum.  Just a test to see if this is a good way to contact them.

It happens.  I look at it like this.  Every price on NewEgg changes with market prices.  Some times you get killer deals, other times the price drops right after you bought it.

For a few bucks I don't even worry about it.  If it is a large amount, NewEgg is "customer Centered" so it could not hurt to send them a email and just ask.  They are about the best with us, the customer.

.. Think about those people who bought the Q6600 the day before the price drop for $600 not knowing about the price drop and then the next day it dropped to $300...  And now it's up to $375..

It's like real-life shopping.. If you do your research and take the time to search for a better deal or to know when the next sale is going to be, then you'll always end out ahead of everybody who doesn't.. I don't think people should be reimbursed for their own laziness if they didn't bother to check for the price-drop..

As far as price drops that are small, that's just silly.. You don't buy a gallon of milk one day and then go back to the store the next day demanding your 10 cents because they started a new sale on milk.. Why would you do it for a graphics card, especially in the tech industry where it's a given that prices continue to fall everyday across the board for all parts..

Re: Ugh, price drop the very next day

Happens all the time with me.  I will order something only to find it cheaper the next day.  And if i wait, it goes higher, then i order, and then it goes back down.  I have bad luck.

But that was all made better with the ATI radeon 1900 that i got for $130.  I guess there was a mistake on the site because pricewatch finds the cheapest to be over $200.
