Unfortunately I haven't gotten the car...

yet.

Perhaps in Feb or March, when raises/bonuses are handed out at my company.

And ya, my current car is 100% paid off. So I know that payments are a pain but just think. Kids and a Minivan don't equal a second look.

I've bought a few new cars. It is definitely a fun and EXCITING thing to do!

But "dood", after the fun wears away, you still have 5-7 yrs of payments left!

Do yourself a massive favor and buy a 2-3 year old car. They have all that really cool feeling about them as well; plus the feeling of pride that comes from making a sweet financial move!

Sorry to hear that there is a chance you might not get the car you want. You definitely should get it now before the 'little roots' start sprouting out of no where.

And don't worry bout learning manual on the new car, you won't do nearly as much damage to the tranmission as you might think. My GF bought her Stang from the dealer 5spd manual without ever driving a manual car. I taught her how to drive it in about 20mins. Obvisiouly took her a couple of weeks before she felt comfortable enough to jump on the highways but it's pretty easy.

Here is one tip, if you get a chance to attempt and learn: Obvisiouly practice on a flat road so you don't worry about rolling foward or back when the brake is not applied. Now, you put the tranny in 1st with the clutch engaged and foot of the brake, make sure you e-brake is off too. Then really slowly come off of the clutch pedal until you begin to feel a little bit of vibration from the clutch pedal and you start to feel the car to move slowly forward ... this is the point that you want to start giving it gas. just a little though. But practice moving the car with only the clutch, by releasing the clutch to this 'middle' position i guess i would call it and letting role. this helps you memories the feeling of where you clutch should be when you are giving the car some gas. 1st gear and reverse are the hardest to learn and you could use this method for both. After you get 1st and reverse down, the rest is cake. =)

As for my recommendation... I say scrap the idea entirely and get into some investment opportunities. Perhaps the pencil manufacturing business is in need of share holders.

Quite agreed. The pencil industry is a developing market. Taking stock at this early stage is sure to produce excellent rewards.
