Eggxpert forums super slow in Firefox

Not sure if this is a bug issue or just a general suggestion feedback so here it gets posted.

Has something changed on the forums? For the last couple days the site moves painfully slow. At first I thought I was just having a internet hickup but every other site I then went to, including the regular Newegg.com site moved normally. So I launched Explorer and came in here and everything went normal speed. Perhaps there was a Firefox update that went through but it seems odd that this is the only site I go to that this issue occurs on. It is not that it is just slow, it is like it is not even responding for a bit before it goes to the page I click on. What I mean is I can click the Active forums on the right side (example as all behave the same) and I see on the bottom left it is loading or finding or whatever it does for the page but then if I hover over any other links while I am waiting for this page to go nothing will highlight, not even the Firefox links up at the top like Bookmarks, History and so on. This only occurs on the forums here, I have not been able to replicate this issue on any other site.

Question about the "Shocker" Deals

I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it but tomorrow's AM deal is something I am looking to purchase. However my question is regarding Newegg's AM time frame. Now if the deal ends @ 12 in the afternoon will it be ending at 12 on the west coast or the east coast? I ask because if it ends @ 12 in the afternoon on the eastcoast I probably won't be able to get my order in but if it ends @ 12 on the westcoast it will be 3 o clock here and I get off work @ 2 so I should have enough time to purchase the Shocker deal.

I am pretty sure Newegg is going off the west coast time, but can anyone confirm?

I was sent to this site by newegg and all I got was a bunch of off color comments in the chat section. All I want to do is buy some memory from you so I can improve the speed of my computer (256MB Ram). Your chat room is full of people who trade filthy language at nearly the speed of light. Sure no place for a computer illiterate like me. Is there someone who could help me without all the bad language?

PS I own a 5 year old Dell Dimension 4400 Pentium 4 processor at 1.8 gig. 256MB Ram FFT SDRAM Two memory connectors (I don't know how many pins) . Computer is able to handle 1 gig of RAM Memory type is DDR (nonECC) all this is from the manual

The forums are great for static co-collaboration, the Chat is great for quick help, the blogs are great for that niche audience. But the Wiki is what we need for dynamic co-collaboration.

Benefits:

- jsv's budget builds would allow those users capable of choosing high-quality, low-cost parts to do so and update the list regularly.

- Tutorials, Guides and all other references could be made into Wiki's streamlining the search process to find particular things*

- Integrate the database with Newegg directly (where applicable) so prices can be updated 'on-the-fly'

- Give Newegg/Eggxpert more focused market advertising through suggested items on the page for other items

- Better categorization:

-- Product Support

--> "PSU quality list," "Troubleshooting computer not powering on," etc...

-- Shipping

--> "What is EggSaver," "(interactive?) Map with UPS delivery times from each warehouse"

-- Build Suggestions

--> Budget-based build for all types of budgets. From $300 computers to $3000 gaming computers.

-- Billing

--> I paid with Bill me later but it seems I was overcharged, what can I do? [Ok, this one category probably not necessary]

* For example, the other day I wanted to find the link to UPS' site which details getting tracking number by reference #, but after lots of searching could not find it. Eventually gave up and went to UPS directly; having a wiki would have definitely simplified that process.

Downfalls: Um... I guess people may be dumb and try to update certain things irrelevantly (ban them from contributing if it's consistent) like the people on Wikipedia who constantly change "Independent" to "Inexpensive" for the meaning of "RAID." Some mods prove further that they let their personal opinions supersede what is best...

Today I went to go into the eggxpert chat and I keep getting this message, can anyone tell me whats going on?

I have found a solution..... I made an IRC channel for us while the Eggxpert chat is offline.

There are three ways to log in:

1. Go to efnet.org and on your left hand side under "webchat" type in your screen name and as the channel type in #eggxpert4

2. Go to your IRC client and go to the EFnet server and type in #eggxpert4

3. click this link:

Saved system specs

How about a system put in place so that the system specs can be in our signature or something more permanent so that we do not have to enter it every time we post or when its relevant? And also make sure that we can edit it on our profile page as well. The ability to integrate links to the corresponding manufacturer page or even the NewEgg product page would be nice too.

To save space on the forum, you may want to have it as a "reveal" or as some forums call it "hidden" so that when you click a button, you can see it. Otherwise, it's hidden and saves page space.

New chatroom suggestion

OK, I'll try to tone down the frustrations here.

There are 2 regular staff members who check the forums and assist with Chat.

Wyldstallyn is the Site Admin and full time EggXpert staffer. He is currently the only one. Site issues, and User/Moderator conduct issues that need to be escalated to "Newegg Management" need to go to him.

DoM_DoM is a Customer Service Rep whose additional duties include checking the forums to assist with Customer Order related issues. (Order status, Shipping issues, and RMA issues).

TECHNICAL SUPPORT is provided as-is, with no promises or guarantees, by our USER COMMUNITY. Yes, it's users helping users. If you do not like our conduct or quality of support, it is helpful to remember that you are approaching fellow technology users and customers for support. You are not getting technical support from Newegg employees. What you are doing when you are asking for support is the equivalent of asking a fellow shopper in a store a question. Some users have been around and shown the commitment to accuracy and conduct to be trusted to help the site self - police (The Ubers).
