Question 2: I own the intel bad axe 2 motherboard, it occurs to me that intel motherboard have a very limited ram supported at least for my model support 1.8V or 1.9V ram. Will the future motherboard able to support a more variation in ram voltage regulation?

(I gave a demo of an Intel workstation once and the noise was somewhat embarrassing)

It seems to me that adding DP support to a high end desktop uncore would ideally suit quite a few markets. You could effectively market to high end gamers, mid-range workstations (above 1 Processor but below 2 Server Processors) and, the value DP server. You could use the DP server chipset or a watered down (fused/chopped, probably fused) version to accommodate this market, and it would help to recover the cost of that server chipset and open up new fringe markets that have been floundering for years or even a decade or more. It does some nice things, it gives people a potential upgrade path to add a CPU, it puts desktop technologies in the workstation market (instead of server technologies), it puts more higher margin sockets in the field to boost high end sales, I'm assuming but it seems these would be higher margin considering the use of a desktop processor in these types of markets. Personally this type of system would be great for me, as I'm a high end gamer at home and I sit in front of an 'almost good enough' workstation at work.

So, I guess my question is, "What about DP Desktop, value DP server, and mid range workstations?"

Lastly, about multi-threading and adding cores. Given the thermal envelope and the need to continue to develop new products, I realize we're in 'just add more cores' mode. As such, many in this message board have talked about multi-threaded application support to fully use the capabilities of the new processors and cores. My question is what about OS support? I've read or heard (can't remember) that most OS's today are optimized for < 16 threads and it seems that the days of 16+ threads are right around the corner. Are Microsoft and Apple on board with this push to increase thread performance to their OS's or do you perceive an even stronger push toward mainstream open source OS development?

By the way, I really think it's great that Intel is opening up to these types of forums. And... Your products are great, keep up the good work!

Thanks,

MahoZuka

Re: Next up?...
Another issue I have is Intel should make better integrated video with the Intel Chipsets.

I also think Intel should pay more attention to the Gaming Sector. This sector buys a lot of high-end Processors. As a sector it values quality over quantity. There may be better ways to sell to market and package products for this sector. One way might be a processor you dont to push those stupid plastic prongs through your $200.00+ motherboard.

Re: Next up?... I would like to know some of the underlying advantages, all in lamens terms, and when that technology is due and if there are any plans on driving the market(s) with those chipsets. I would also like to know if there will be bridges and compatibilities as to if Intel is planning on making any big steps in the future or all baby steps that are somewhat backwards compatible.

Also, does Intel have any plans to drive the market on the software side in any aspect. I believe that the market on the programming side is slipping and staying too far behind as newer and even newer advanced hardware is fabricated.

Here's mine:

With ATI now a wholly owned subsidiary of your single notable competitor in the CPU market, why has your company continued to produce chipsets compatible with CrossFire instead of starting towards a collaborative relationship with nVidia? Basically, why continue to hand revenue to your competitor when both nVidia and Intel make better products than AMD/ATI? (this is my humble opinion)

Very good question Mr. Monroe, I second the deman for an answer to this.

~TK

I think the answer to that one is pretty easy, if the chipset motherboard is a gaming platform, it offers features for a gamer, and ATI is willing to license out it's technology. If nvidia licensed out SLI, they would probably make it available as well.

Re: Next up?... You've (You=intel) have made some pretty straightforward comments about the future of graphics processing and certainly about IGP solutions, so why make discrete graphics cards at all? It doesn't seem in line with your philosophy. I can't imagine jumping into the discrete graphics market at this point is easy, it will pit you against two very good Graphics card makers (Well, depending on who's counting 1) How do you expect your cards to gain traction with alleigances to these companies being what they are, and their legacies?
INTEL Motherbaords

Hi I like Intel Motherbards they are stable but in the same time it is very limited. tINTEL Motherboards doesn't support many different ram chips and doesn't support different voltage's for rams and we can't overclock with most of the Intel motherboards.

question: why are you guys doing this ? why very limited motherboards.

question2: are you guys thinking to support more brands and test more brands in your products..

I believe these are the worst points for Intel motherboards and i want it to find out that you guys are doing something about it or not.

Re: Next up?...
