I mean what were they thinking with the no treble control. So basically, I need a new sound card that will give me treble control, obviously. I care more about sound quality more for music versus sound quality in gaming and movies but I would like it to sound better than the Audigy se value in all departments. And I would like to not pay over $50 for it, basically, if it's better than the sound card I have and has treble control I want it. I don't want anything that is going to have excessive bass because I am listening to mainly instrumental music.
Bose companion 3 series II vs. series I?

Hi,

What's the difference between a

Bose companion 3 series I

Bose companion 3 series II

Is the quality of sound different, or is it just the design?

thanks,

wookiee

Who really makes my headset?

I recently bought this headset:
ABS AZ1 Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound Light Weight Circumaural USB Gaming Headset

I was simply looking for headphones that use a USB connector and look comfortable. These were a relatively nice price. However, the drivers that are installed are for a "USB PnP sound device." I checked Device Manager, and the driver provider is C-Media. But who really makes these headphones, and are they available from other manufacturers?

Confused on getting 5.1 or 2.1 audio

The way my room is set up i can't really put any speakers behind me i only have the three layers of my desk to stack speakers on. Is it worth it to get a 5.1 stereo system (mainly for music) like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121006. Is 5.1 audio worth it if you cant get the speakers all around you? I don't really have a set to actually play around with. Also since its mainly for music i want quality and a decently high volume would i get better quality out of $50-70 2.1 speakers that it would be worth buying those over the 5.1 since i'm assuming the quality of the speakers themselves on the 2.1 would be better then the 5.1. Sorry if this is confusing i wasn't sure exactly how to word it. Basically is 2.1 better then 5.1 in quality if i cant get the speakers all around me. Also i have an evga 750i that supports 5.1 audio i dont want to buy a sound card unless i really have to.

Cracks and Pops on new system

so I just built a new system and now I am having sound issues. this
is my third build and I have never had sound issues before. I started
off with basic built in sound from the mobo and got lots of cracks and
pops (you'd think that with modern tech they could at least give decent
sound from the mobo by now). then I tried my old SoundBlaster Live!
that I have been using for quite some time and it is not supported in
windows 7. then I buy a new SoundBlaster Audigy SE and it cracks and
pops even with the newest win7 drivers. I even tried puting it into a
different PCI slot and still get crappy sound.

I messed with the settings and set it all to high quality, 96Khz and 24Bit but no change.

I
experimented with my wifes computer by moving my speakers and a test
mp3 file to her computer. I used the same decoder (winamp) and on her
computer it sounds crystal clear. the strange thing is that her
computer has the exact same sound card, soundblaster audigy SE. her
computer has winXP and and older AM2 motherboard. why is her sound
crystal clear and mine is craptasitc?
This is ticking me off. I am
not an audiophile and don't need perfect sound, I just don't want all
the cracks and pops like bad static whenever I play a darn mp3. of all
the things that could go wrong with a new build and a new OS it is the
sound that is kicking my butt...I guess it could be worse...

ASIO sound card

hi all,

i currently use asio4all to have asio drivers for live playback, but oh do i hate it. it is laggy crashes like it was meant to. what sound card would be good for recording, and live playback - most likely one with in asio drivers.

thanks!

Good news from Turtle Beach

They already have a W7 driver for the Riviera and will be releasing one for the Montego.

http://turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=files

AC97 front panel audio cable question?

Now before someone says read the manual.
I have Windows 7 RC x64 and will be soon getting Home Premium x64.

I have Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS that I purchased when I was using XP, and there was no audio driver for Vista. Just recently, Creative, the maker, released Windows 7 x64 driver. The playback is fine, but when it comes to recording What You Hear, the recorded sound often cracks. I have to reboot and do the recording first before anything else on my computer. Figuring it was too annoying, I purchased another sound card from SIIG Sound Wave 7.1 whose NewEgg customer rating was great. I asked a rep from SIIG using chat if I would have the option to record system sound, the option called What You Hedar or Stereo Mix, the rep said yes. But after installing the card and the latest Win 7 driver, I don't see the option to record system sound! I'm very frustrated about this right now. Sorry for the rant.

I need a card for which a Win 7 x64 driver exists and can record system sound without cracking.
I am in the process of learning about building computers to build myself an audio workstation. I felt that it was prudent to start with the backbone of the system so the motherboard is my first task. I think that I've narrowed it down to two units:

1. Asus - ASUS P6T WS PRO LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Core i7

2. Tyan - TYAN S7010AGM2NRF Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5520 SSI EEB Dual Intel Xeon 5500 Series Server Motherboard

I determined that I want to use a beefy motherboard hence the workstation/server units. I've read that audio recording and processing is more ram intensive, which further solidified my idea about a ws/server board. The Tyan offers some flexibility to run either a Xenon or i7 processors which may perhaps make it more usable into the future as DAW software is developed for Windows 7.

Ideas, suggestions or concerns? - thanks ahead of time.

Full size bracket. It needs to have at least one external 6 pin firewire slot. I don't know whether that's 1394 or 1394a.

The purpose is to connect an M-Audio firewire solo

It's a finger length PCI slot with one gap. It's not the tiny thumbnail size PCI slot.

It must be compatible with my motherbaord. The Texas Instruments chipset is essential.

This is my motherboard

I only notice it when I am listening to music, which I am doing most of the time, but it could be affected by other activities as well. There is an audible beep from the my speakers and then the sound cuts out and intermittently plays some scrambled garbage then stops altogether. Then a few minutes later it will be fine again.

I was thinking it was my soundcard which is a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer (standard edition), so I uninstalled the drivers and device and sweeped them and installed new drivers to no avail. Same problem keeps popping up.

Any help regarding this would be much appreciated as always

Thanks,

Treble

sound cards compatible with windows 7

guys i've got a creative soundblaster 5.1 live and sadly enough they dont support this card any more, sounds great.what a shame.anyway what cards are compatible with windows 7?thank you
Several sound issues

Gunna try and keep things short and to the point here.

I have a Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe motherboard and a Creative X-Fi Titanium.
