I'm running Kaspersky in the mode so that it automatically handles all threats after I ran it on a training mode for several months. The virus somehow embedded itself on the explorer.exe for windows. My AV automatically quarantined windows. Doesn't seem like that should be possible, partially because I was using a guest account. After this happened, my wallpaper still showed up, but I had no windows except task manager. I managed to perform a full system scan to no avail and unquarantined explorer.exe. After reboot, I got the blue screen of death. I tried running the repair console on my OS disk, which seemed to work just fine until I reboot. Everytime I boot, it's in normal mode. After the repair console restarts the system, It's in safe mode. FYI, the repair console can't make changes in safe mode.

I have a spare 40gb drive that is a couple years old, I'm thinking it'd prolly be easier to recover my documents to it on another computer ,format, and start over. Although I'd prefer to recover, less hassle.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice, it would be much appreciated.

MBAM database stolen by IOBit

Malwarebytes has recently uncovered evidence that a company called IOBit based in China is stealing and incorporating our proprietary database and intellectual property into their software.
