Maybe the solution for Antec 900 front audio

I got on my antec 900 computer about 20 minutes ago, realizing something new, my audio was static. I read all kinds of ways to fix it, but none prevailed. I messed with all the cables, moving, switching between ac97 and hda and nothing would happen. I read one idea that a person moved his cable away from components like his video card and processor. Seeing as the f audio port on my mb was not very close to those, i just jiggled the cable a bit, and it actually worked. now I'm listening to all of my various music without any static whatsoever, maybe I'm just one lucky son of a b**** or maybe the wiring of the cables are just poor, but anyone with a similar issue should give it a try, btw I'm using the ac97 jack.

Antec Titan650 Case and MB question

I recently purchased an Antec Titan650 case and a SUPERMICRO MBD-X8STI-3F-O motherboard.

The motherboard fits but the CPU backing board for mounting the heatsink does not match the holes on the motherboard nor the heatsink. The heatsink and motherboard match.

The motherboard is and ATX form factor. This case is supposed to handle up to Extended ATX including CEB specification motherboards. Shouldn't this case be compatable with an ATX form factor motherboard? Am I overlooking something?

Thanks! I like the case and would rather not go through the trouble of returning it.

Bottom or top mounted Power Supply?

The majority of case manufacturers allow one to choose either a bottom or top mounted power supply.

There seems to be a difference of opinion regarding which provides the most efficient cooling. Is this mostly dependent on which case one chooses, rather than the position of the PSU?

In looking at the customer reviews of several mid-tower cases with bottom mounted PSU, the most frequent complain was that cables were often found to be too short. They failed to reach their destination, or required extensions, or could not be optimally routed. Because of this I am inclined to choose a case with a top mounted PSU. Are there any downsides to doing so?

I am building a new computer primarily for photo editing (no 3D, no games) and I do not plan on overclocking. Would like to keep cost for the case less than $100. Any recommendations?

Need Help Finding a Case

Hi,

I find that I am in need of a new case... The reason is my two 16 month old twins have figured out how to open and shut the DVD drives, turn the power on and off and hit the reset button.... As you can imagine, this is getting to be a real pain in the butt.

What I'm looking for is a Mid-Tower ATX case that has a metal front door and the power/reset buttons inside the cover, not on the outside. I want the cover metal so I can adhere a child lock to it. I don't think plastic will withstand the onslaught of two psycho kids banging away at it. I'm looking for something with NO fancy lights or lighted fans.. anything that attracts them to the PC is BAD... lol.

I will consider a case with lighted fans if it meets the other criteria, I'll just buy non-LED fans to replace them.

I would like to keep the budget under $75 if at all possible. I am also willing to buy elsewhere if NewEgg doesn't have what I'm looking for.

I found This Case on NewEgg. It is the closest thing I could find.. But, it is an older design from 2003-2004 and I'm worried the fans (1x80mm and 2x60mm) wont move enough air with my single slot HD 4850 installed. Also, the price after shipping blows my budget. But, this is the closest thing to what I'm looking for, so I figured you could check it out to get a general idea of what I'm looking for.

Any help would be appreciated,

Antec 900 Vs. Azxt Apollo

I will be building a computer very soon, (my first) and I am very excited for it. But I am stuck choosing between the Antec 900, or the Azxt Apollo, on what i've read the Apollo has a better look (which I have to agree) but the cooling in the antec 900 is SLIGHTLY better. The 30$ will be a big thing but I don't want a case that will fry my computer. So i'll spend the extra 30$ dollars if I need to but if it's just a minor upgrade (1-2 degree's) I don't think it's worth it.

AMD Quad core 3.2 Ghz

Evga Nvidia Geforce 9800 (Only one at the moment MIGHT upgrade to 2)

750W. Power supply

G.Skill 2x 2GB ddr3 ram

Artic cooling for the CPU

1TB HD

If I can run what I want on the Apollo without having heat issues then I think I rather just take that. Buying this computer is a big expensive for me at the moment. Any help, comments, or feedback is very well appreciated.

Can anyone confirm the differences between the PC-K62 and the PC-K58?

It looks like the PC-K58 lacks the side window and black painted interior. I really like the PC-K62 but do not like the side window. Everything else between these cases seems the same though. Appreciate the advice!

Also, if I were to upgrade any of the stock fans, do the rubber grommets come off the original fans? Is there a kit of grommets that can be purchased?

Full-sized ATX case vs mid-tower ATX case?

I can't believe I don't know this and can't find the answer with a Google search, but will a regular ATX motherboard fit in a mid tower ATX case, or do I need to find a micro-ATX motherboard?

I'm looking at some relatively inexpensive Lian-Li cases because I've heard good things about them, but they all seem to be mid-tower ATX cases, and I was planning on buying a full ATX form motherboard. I'm planning on a gaming rig; not very very top of the line but with a lot of power, two graphics cards, core i7, and at least 4 gigs of ram, so it would need fairly good airflow too, which I guess might be a problem with a smaller case?

The person I'm building it for prefers something slightly smaller than a full size but isn't really stuck on it; we don't need more than one dvd drive and two hds to fit in the case, so if the difference is in the drive bays, that isn't much of a concern.

External Hard Drive Enclosure for ATA-6?

First, of all I should state that my technological knowledge is limited. About a year ago I installed a new hard drive on my Dell laptop, a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 60 GB 7200 RPM ATA-6 hard drive. Since then I've switched to a Mac and would like to convert this hard drive to an external one to pull up old documents and pictures. I can't seem to find any enclosures listed that specify they are for ATA-6 (or maybe I'm not looking in the right spot?). Any suggestions on a good, cheap, compatible enclosure?

Case: Antec 300?

Dear Eggxpert folk

I am not a gamer...but I interested in HTPC type technology.

I desperately need a new case...for cooling reasons. I have an old case which I modified...and has served well....but it is still not cooling to the level that I would like. I've been leaving my PC on 24/7 ...and don't like what I'm seeing. Nothing terrible, but a little higher than I like...and have had some memory issues

I want something with at least one 120mm fan in the front and one in the rear. I like the Antec 900...but the Antec 900 and up seem like a little overkill to me. I want something reasonable in size and silence for a desktop (ATX size) machine.

I'm looking at the Antec 300....seems almost ideal to me. Just from looks, I like it better than Cooler Master 690.

Thoughts?...Recommendations? All opinions welcome.

Not enough standoff screws

I am having a friend put together a computer for me, bought all the parts off of newegg but when it got there, he found it didn't have enough standoff screws with it. It only had 2, and i've searched high and low for a place where i can buy them. I found some 10mm ones at radioshack but they were too long. Can anyone at all tell me where i can find some of these things? I'd rather not have to return it but that's what ill do if i have to

I have two problems, I am not sure if I can resolve with these two

1./ the Power Supply mobo cord doesn't reach the socket for about two inches,
i guess I can fix this with some prolonger,

2./ the mobo has two CPU power sockets, but the power source provides only one,

Does anybody now if with a splitter there will be enough power to power two 95w intel quad processors?

Any recommendation on a 1u chassis for the Tyan mobo? I need to fit 8 2.5 disks, or 4 3.5
and power two quad xeons and 18 dimms with 4gb each (72gb)

Help needed / Video card won't fit in HAF 932

Hi folks!

I'm just putting together my first PC ever, and I need some help!

I bought a Coolermaster HAF932 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160) and a HIS Radeon HD5770 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161265).

I'm trying to put the video card in, and there's plenty of room in the case. But the Coolermaster has these "tool-less" things that are supposed to snap in your expansion cards, and the video card has a tiny plastic notch that's perfectly in the way, so while I can set the card in the slot snugly, I can't snap it home, with the result that the backplate of the card is loose instead of nice and tight.

Like I said, I'm completely a novice at this. Are there any experts out there who have any suggestions?

Asus Board, Athena 4U Rack 4088 PCI Issue

Here's what i got.

Asus P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel x58 ATX MOBO

Athena Power RM-4U4088B52 4U Rackmount Server case.

The Manufacturer states that an ATX form factor board is supported. In fact my mother board fits in the case, and mounts snugly. The motherboard is a 12 x 9.6 mobo.

Here is the problem. After installing the board i realized the PCI slots do not match the PCI slot openings on the case. I am guessing the case is not compatible with the mobo. Am i Wrong? Help me out.

Ok so there's something I'm not getting...

According to my logic, a full tower should be bigger than a mid tower, right? And full towers typically have better airflow because...well...they're full towers and can fit more fans/stuff...right?

Is my thinking totally screwed up? How is the HAF932 larger when, according to the specs, it's .4" x -1" x -.2"?

Who can help noob find the right hard drive dock?

I recently had my seagate external hard drive case break the black with (orange light) while the drive is still functional i took it out if its original enclosure so now it is just down to the bare hard drive, I wanted to get a dock or an enclosure from newegg along with the proper cables but dont know which ones. On the back of the hard drive it has a slot for SATA, SATA DATA, and JUMPER BLOCK. I can provide a picture if necessary. I know i need a SATA cable but after that i am not entirely sure, thank you for your time and help and please excuse my ignorance.
