I have a general question about case fans. I currently own an IntelliStation Z Pro model 6221. It has two case fans and when they startup, the computer sounds like a 747 beginning its takeoff roll! Once everything gets going, the fans settle down to a reasonable sound level, but given the age of the computer and that these are original OEM fans, I'm planning to replace them fairly soon.

Now to my question: The diagram in the maintenance manual represents the fans as square in shape. The parts list, on the other hand, lists the fans as 80mm x 38mm. What I believe is they mean it is 80mm on each side and 38mm thick so replacing them with any 80mm case should be OK. On the other hand, I've been burned too many times trying to use logic and assumption not to seek out the wisdom of other who have more experience than I do.

So what do you think folks: Am I on the right track, or should I got back to the drawing board?

Thanks!

LDS

Any suggestions?

Hey, so I noticed my system has been running rather hot lately. I custom built my computer, had it for about 2 years. I have a side fan (360mm), and the CPU fan isn't the stock one, I don't have the case/know the name off the top of my head but it seemed to be decent when I bought it. I am going to apply new thermal paste ASAP but I don't think that's the only problem. Here's some screenshots that might help you guys out. I'm open to any suggestions from watercooling to new fans. The room temperature in here is fairly warm, guessing I'd say around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Oh, and I looked in the case and the CPU heatsink/fan had a good deal of dust on them so i cleared that out and then booted it up again. I have a thermaltake spedo case that I bought around 7 months ago and it's worked without a hitch. A few days back I noticed a very loud clicking noise coming from my case and I originally thought it was my hard drive but it was actually my front case fan. Whenever I start it up I get a clicking noise that increases in loudness (because of the speed I presume lol) and then after about ten minutes the noise dies down. Can anyone give me some advice? Why would the noise go away after a little while?

Liquid Cooling Questions

Forgive my ignorance butI have been reading posts from other users which state that liquid cooling is expensive.

But what about the corsair hydro series?

Is this product considered liquid cooling?

Can the price range for this product be considered expensive?

If not, what's the catch?

Looking forward to some enlightenment.

Overclocking need help on cooling options

Well let me start off by saying that I am fairly new to this(Not overclocking but cooling oh the irony, anyways). I was looking at this website http://www.xigmatek.com and not really sure what's the best bang for your buck. To help you help me here are my specs:

650watt PSU

Intel Quad-Core Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz

8800GTS(640MB) ... (I have no idea why double spacing is on)

4GB of ram

EVGA NFORCE 680i sli 775MB

And here is the temps of my CPU with just regular stock cooling:

A little high aye?

Anyways I plan on overclocking my CPU to about 3GHz I don't wanna push it too much. Someone pointed me to this website http://www.xigmatek.com and not really sure what to look for I honestly don't care what the pricing is as long as it does it's job great and it doesn't involve any water cooling and it's not too terribly complicated to install. I was looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233032&cm_re=Thor%27s_Hammer_S126384-_-35-233-032-_-Product but honestly I just clicked the first product I saw on that website. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

cooling advice

Hello everyone,

My PC has been running slow recently and I have been looking at what may be causing it, I ran my speed fan and came across some results that I needed advice on.

core 1 - 50 C

core 2 - 53 C

Everything else seemed ok(they were the only 2 with fire symbols next to them).
I'm currently building the following rig for gaming:

1 - Antec P193 Gunmetal Gray Aluminum Case
1 - Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 PSU
1 - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX
2 - SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5870 (Cross-Fire)
6 - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 12GB (6 x 2GB)
1 - Intel X25-M 160GB SATA II MLC
1 - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty

Yes, all items are from Newegg :)

Now, my question is, should I go with Liquid Cooling or the norm which is Heatsink and Fan combo?

Which is better and why.

What are the dangers with Liquid Cooling, cuz I've heard some doozies :)

What would you recommend for my rig? Links would be appreciated.

Temps are at 32c idle and reach 50c during a few hours of gaming. Soon i am planning on upgrading from this to a Phenom II X4 955 BE. My question is what would the performance change be (if any) if i decided to purchase something along the lines of a Prolimatech Megahalems Cooler since the water cooler would fit on the Phenom also.
Adding a case fan to be controlled by Mobo...

I haven't actually started this build yet but UPS tracking says "out for delivery" so I will be very soon. I know this is kind of trivial but when you're doing a new build you want everything right. The Antec 902 case allows two additional fans. I want to add one to the side panel. Antec says use the Tri Cool 120mm fan, but I want to connect it to the Asus mobo where it will increase or decrease in speed according to temp. Since the Tri Cool fan has three settings (low, medium, and high) would I set it to high and let the mobo do the rest or do I need a different type of fan.

My worry now is the total lack of response from Ikonik. They have a support page on their website that you can fill out and submit and a long phone number for their office in Taipei, but no e-mail address.I'm not sure if my request for support even went thru from their web page. The case is beautiful and well constructed but I havent got around to firing it up yet,but it also has a "SIM" that manages the fans and pump for the liquid cooling that I would like to have support for in the future.Has anyone out there ever had any experience with this company? An "real" e-mail address perhaps? To be honest,I've never called a asian phone number-never needed to,how crazy are the prices on such calls? Thanks in advance for any help.

An I5-750 & Freezer 7 pro rev. 2

Guys whats the general temp on a motherboard that i should be getting for this combo for just sitting on idle?
